Sunfun - Well done. We will be there May 19th to June 16th so we may see you in either Valantis Grill House or the Steki bar ( next to Avra - red tablecloths). Not long now - less than a year.

Sunfun, have you considered flying down to Manchester instead of the long drive? Or the train? For me anything would be better than the road trip! ::)We are flying from Leeds - and getting there by train! ;D ;D

Well done sunfun!
We haven't decided about 2010 yet. We are restricted to July & August having been many times in May & June. Last year in July/August, the swarms of day trippers had a severe effect on our enjoyment; especially as we prefer Pondamos beach. A few other factors are making us think about returning:- - I like to do plenty of walking and August isn't ideal for this! (oddly, we had two days in August last year when it only reached 26C) - Pondamos is getting scruffier and we're beginning to resent paying £6-12 a day for sun beds which are very close together. - Kids will be 12 and 15 and may not want to go (although they did this year). - Flights for the four of us cost £1300. - This will be our 11th year and I feel the kids should experience somewhere else.
If we could go in May, the decision would be easy. We will wait and see what it's like on 29th July before we make up our minds. Probably, it's the day trippers which will decide it. My family talked me out of booking Morocco this time; they might have a harder job for 2010!

Andrew, regrettably, the Day Tripper issue is not going to go away. It has been in the melting pot as far as Halki is concerned, for years and the past couple of seasons have shown some operators that there is profit to be made. It matters not whether that profit making exercise causes ruination of another's pleasure. It will continue in one form or another. I suspect it may become more organised as each year passes and the ultimate horror of direct Mandraki~Halki shipments may not be far away. Great pity but as you know, tourism has a habit of destroying the golden egg.

:)Thanks Andrew! It is a pity that you are restricted to july and august. We always tend to go in may as it's quieter, not too hot and not so expensive either.Having to pay for sunbeds is a bit of a pain and eats into your spending money too. Apart from the crowds in july and august,i don't think we could stand the heat.Hope it goes well for you though

It is a great pity but I supect you may be right Sth, Andrew I sympathise but totally understand, last year even the first week in September I got fed up with the daytrippers and Liz said it was much worse the week before we arrived. I think like you that if it gets worse we will look for somewhere else eventually, I never ever thought I would say that Hope you get something booked that suits all of you wherever it may be ;D

No I am not drunk Sunfun and I never thought I would ever write that, but we go to Halki mainly for peace and quiet for two weeks, I am more than happy to socialise and we have made many friends over the years but I do not want to sit on the beach with people nearly sitting on my lap as happened a couple of times last year. We have already booked for next year so change is not imminent but never say never, we will see how it goes

Carol - You should not have the same problems on Ftenagia beach as you would on Pontomas. I am only assuming this fact on going in May/Early June. Most of "them"all seem to head for Pontomas when they get off the Ferry.
