Kinygos , thanks . I just came back onto the forum to post what I have been able to discover since my last post , and saw your post. Well here goes . I read through the other post on the forum and found a telephone number for a man called Livanios. I called the number and he answered the phone , I asked him if the hotel would be open this year and he said yes people will be arriving this week to open the hotel , and he text me a phone number for a lady called Nisiakaki whom he said would be at the hotel today. I called her this morning and she assured me that the hotel will be opening very soon and that she would be on the Island Thursday . I told her I had booked the hotel via the web booking engine and she asked for my confirmation number , and said that she would check that my booking was fine and telephone me back as soon as she able to access the information . Hopefully she will ring me tomorrow, and we can look forward to our first visit to Halki , and going off what we have read online it will be the first of many. Feeling hopeful  ? |

I can confirm that lights were turned on at the hotel last night.
Hopefully they were cleaners/checking for repair work and not burglars....

Hello forum , I'm back again with possibly the same problems, regarding Hotel Ai Nicolas. Since my last post I have been in contact with a lady a few times regarding my reservation at the hotel, via text message, and she assured me that the hotel will be open in July,and that she had seen my booking, and that due to a problem with the booking system the deposit hadn't been taken from my card and was it ok for the hotel to take the amount ( which she knew , without me telling her). I asked if the hotel was going to open and she said people were at the hotel getting it ready.
I told her it would be fine to take the deposit. A couple of days later I got a phone call from a man who said he was from the hotel who said that he was really sorry but the booking system was still causing them problems and that the money had not yet been taken .
That was about two weeks ago now , and over the weekend I have tried to contact both of them via text and call without success , so was wondering if anyone on here who is out on the island had any news of what is going on there.
I know I may seem silly for persevering with this , but we were looking forward to a couple of days on Halki during our holiday , just hope we get to do it.
Thanks in advance for any info

I may be pessimistic about this but I have to say it doesn't sound good to me  They haven't yet taken your money so why persevere with them and explore other potions as stated earlier, just my opinion but good luck. |

Personally I don't know why you'd persevere .. going on form from last year .. I'd put money on you being let down .. I'm sure you can get accommodation for 3 days with another source ... I don't know if you do Facebook but there was a lady who'd booked the hotel last year and then three days before they were due to travel they upped the price! ....Needless to say they didn't stay at the hotel! .. It could be a fantastic place . and should be .. but unfortunately its not ... I would hate for you to go there, be let down and then base your view of Halki on that experience ... its a fantastic place with fantastic people and deserves better representation ...................................and breathe !  |

Thanks for the advise Liz , I really do appreciate everyone's advice, and will be booking different accomadation tomorrow . Like you say it seems a little strange to spend a lot of money to build a hotel that claims so much and then run it like this. Without forums like this , which not everyone knows about, how many people just go on their website and use the booking engine and get the confirmation email like I did and then nothing!
I am lucky really as I already have accomadation in Rhodes that covers the days I was looking to visit Halki , and was just going to park my hire car at KS and take the ferry for a few nights , because I wanted to get a little taster of the island.
Anyway I've been looking at alternates today and have a couple and will make the decision tomorrow .
Hopefully we can enjoy 3 great nights on the island .

Its a funny place BBob ... I liken it to Fawlty towers ..There's been so much money thrown at it..It's beautiful ! ..fantastic setting but unfortunately it doesn't seem to get managed right ! ... I don't know what the problem is ... but I'd be happy to step in to be manager ! |

So pleased you are looking for alternative accommodation borneobob, better to get it sorted properly now than get to Halki and find you have to get somewhere else to stay, hope you really enjoy Halki, sure you will |
