We have booked for 2014 with Nissia in their Polymnia Studio. This will be our fourth visit and our first time using Nissia. Last year we stayed at the Roulla Studios and it was a little too small and basic for us, so this year we jumped at the chance of having a waterside studio. I have looked online and can only find a few posts back in 2009 regarding the polymnia villa: anyone got any update on the studio???

thank you for your reply and the pictures. We didn't see any internal photos when we booked it so we didn't know what to expect. We were in Roulla last year and had the mattress on the upper floor style of accommodation which was accessed by a very steep and slippy wooden staircase. The bathroom was horrible, you had to duck down under a water cistern when using the toilet and the shower was extremely basic, the floor always flooded. The balcony was shared with two other couples so there was no privacy. I'm hopeful that Polymnia will be more comfortable and better - however I must admit I thought the standard provided by Nissia was supposed to be higher. We were told that the Polymnia was always very popular and had been taken by the same party for the last prior years and that we were lucky to have got it? any more feed back on either matter would be appreciated.

Catmanblue - the studio is always popular and rarely not occupied when we've on the island in late June/early July. As long standing users the next set of water front villas along, we would have heard from our fellow travelers if there were any issues.
If you have any concerns, e-mail Lynn at Nissia.

I was disappointed but then like I say at the time the picture on the website was the same picture as the one of the interior of the villa so thats what we were expecting and the write up I feel is misleading .. I can't see a living area ? In my book a table and two chairs doesn't constitute that ... it wasn't what we thought it would be at all, The terrace is fairly private although there is a laundry room below so you do get the cleaners popping in and out to hang the washing out. The bathroom is modern and you can stand in the shower and look out over the water I don't know anyone else who has stayed there I'm afraid so can't comment on its popularity. Its a basic studio, functional but basic .. would I have booked it if I'd seen the inside ? ..to be fair probably not at the price they ask Sorry to be so negative but that was our experience

Hi Catmanblue...We stayed in Polymnia Studio back in May 2004 on our first visit to Halki with Laskarina. Their reps then were Bob and Lynn of Nissia. We were very disappointed with it...The bathroom and loo were down some outside steps, the sitting area was very tight and the ladder down to the sea was broken and not mended during our stay there. However the lemon trees outside the door were lovely! We enjoyed walking over the ridge to Kania which back then was totally undeveloped and quite beautiful. It's still lovely there but different. Nowadays we are much happier organising our own holiday staying in accomodation owned by and let by local people eg halkidirect.Be careful of the sea urchins on the rocks there.

Extract (part) from Nissia website about this accommodation is below - italics are mine. Perhaps someone who has stayed there, say in the last 12 months, might be able to comment to assist catmanblue's OP ? I might add that I've never stayed there - did not even know there was any accommodation the other side of the big villa ! Just to echo a previous comment to take swimming shoes. The inside comprises one large open plan area with the newly refurbished kitchen at one end, a living area in the middle and the sleeping area, complete with double bed, at the far end. Everything in the studio is of the highest standard and finished immaculately. Uniquely, the again newly built bathroom can be found outside of the main building, just a few short steps away.

thank you for your replies. As suggested I emailed Lynne at Nissia and below is the reply:
Hello Mandy & Peter Many thanks for your email, I have read the comment by Liz!! and have also read the positive comment on the forum,by another person. Polymnia studio is fully booked for 2014 the majority of the bookings are by returning clients who stay there for up to 4 weeks at a time,we have rented out the studio for 8 years and the only complaint we have ever had is from this lady!!who has replied to your posting!! Thank you for bringing the posting to our attention,we value the comments and feed back we receive from our clients on our accommodation which are all very positive and result in the very high percentage of rebooking's,we have. Polymnia studio is in a fabulous position with a very large terrace, the studio inside has all the requirements for 2 people with air conditioning and a large hotel style double bed, if the accommodation was not to our standard , we would not have all the repeat bookings we have had over the last 8 years
Hopefully this will put your mind at rest and you will enjoy your holiday with us at Polymnia studio, as have all the clients who have been staying there regularly for the last 8 years.
suppose we will just have to wait seven months to find out! At least we will be in Halki - and any accommodation is better than not going!

Catmanblue: "the only complaint we have ever had is from this lady!!"
This was the same lady who wouldn't come on my boat!
Some people are just picky!
Boat is boat...

I really hope it is what you expect Catmanblue, we all have different expectations but as long as they are what is described online then things should be fine.
