We booked two flights from Birmingham to Rhodes for next August with Travel Republic who we always book our flights with and have always been pleased with their service, the flight we booked was leaving at 7am so a good time for the ferry and some lunch. Today we have been informed that Travel Republic booked our flight with Thomas Cook although the carrier is actually Thomson and Thomas Cook is not operating that flight and we have been moved to TC flight that leaves Birmingham at 3pm and arrives back in Birmingham in the middle of the night !! Totally not acceptable We will have a fight on our hands as they will argue that because the delay ( as they call it ) is less than 12 hours we are not entitled to change the flight without cost to ourselves which is infuriating as it will obviously now involve an overnight stop at Kamiros Scala that wasn't planned. Be warned, there are quite a few people who we know fly out of Birmingham on that flight every year so make sure you know who you are booked with and make sure it is not Thomas Cook.

We had the same problem this year on our flight from Glasgow. First it was going to be with Jet2 at a reasonable hour there and back then it was late flights going and the middle of the night coming back. I am afraid it will make us think twice before visiting Halki again as we have a long journey as it is from n.e. Scotland before we even start our journey by plane. Go Carol go and pin them down to their original times. Call me paranoid but i think these comapnies take your money telling you one thing while knowing another. Tough luck on the 'freight' as we are known!!!

We are still trying to get them, that is Thomas Cook to give us a refund so we can rebook the original flight at 7am but they and Travel Republic are digging their heels in, it is a nightmare and in future we will probably just go from Gatwick with Easyjet at least they seem to stick to their flight times. Not given up the fight yet so will let you know what happens

We have almost given up as it is all taking too much time now and we are getting the same standard rubbish responses from everyone, basically they don't want to know and are not interested in the fact that it is going to cost us more money and we will lose part of our holiday through no fault of our own, what other industry would get away with that. Anyway, at Liz's suggestion I have filled in a complaints form to Watchdog and am planning on complaining to the Telegraph travel page where they help sort out peoples travel problems, it may not come to anything but at least I will have tried, will let you know. Snoopy I do hope your travel problems don't stop you returning to Halki but I can understand your concerns, keep in touch

Contact Don Littlewood. He has "sorted" many an issue that others could not.

What a complete cock up and non of it your fault. Am I reading the original post right and did Travel Republic book you on the wrong flight or were TC saying they had a flight that left at 7am whichever non of it is your fault so one or other of them should reimburse you so you can book a flight to connect with the ferris.

Travel Republic booked us on a 7am Thomson flight ( which we have used many times before ) but it appears now that it was actually booked through Thomas Cook, they changed the flight time and put us on a Thomas Cook flight in the afternoon, confused ? So am I !!! It now appears that if you book direct with Thomson and are prepared to pay over £1000 plus luggage for two flights you can go on the 7am flight but not if you book through an agent like Travel Republic, so it sounds to me like it is all about money, no surprise there We refuse to pay those sort of prices for European flights when you can go long haul for the same amount of money, it is ridiculous. We will now probably stay at the Liros again on the Wednesday night, it was lovely there and we were made very welcome and then cross on the Fedon first thing in the morning, hopefully on a calmer sea than this year.

Same scenario as our travel this year. It is shocking and these companies shouldn't get away with such treatment. Everyone lays great store by their holiday be it annual or otherwise and to be 'robbed' of time - (we were both ends so paid for 14 days - got 12) is in effect fraud.

Well Just so glad we are able to go with EJ from Gatwick at a good time and cheap price comfy plane and lovely staff throughout and so far no drastic flight time changes. It really does leave a bad taste in the mouth to see how other company's treat their clients. They all deserve to go outta business.

That's why we have stuck with EJ from Gatwick. Would be much more convenient to fly from Exeter or Bristol but don't trust the companies not to make changes.
