First thing i want is a cup of tea!! However it would be churlish not to go with tradition and get some liquid refreshment of the alcoholic sort whilst getting the milk!!!

You need to get the alcohol in because you never know who is going to pop round ... And how bad would you feel if you couldn't provide a Singapore sling for a fellow traveller

Arrived on Rhodes at 7pm ish last night. Got a transfer to "The Butterfly" outside Falariki . I don't think I have stayed in a noisier hotel! Picked up again at 7.30am and on the 9.15 Ferry. Fantastic journey across. Studio accommodation is great . Went shopping and got water, retsina and metaxa . Enough said.

To avoid an overnight on Rhodes - I would advise always book a flight that leaves the UK on or before 9am, then unless anything untoward happens, you should land in Rhodes Airport about 3pm (local time) which gives you time to collect your bags and head off to KS for the ferry. The afternoon flights that are offered with Olympic Holidays do make the overall cost of the package cheaper however, I know where I would rather be on my first night It also means that you do not have too much waiting around on your return.

Having done a huge amount of research since booking this year's holiday i have found out it is quicker, more comfortable if a tad more expensive to travel independently. Pity of course i hadn't done my research before rather than after booking - hey ho. dizzy8 can't wait to be where you are !!

To be honest the transfers with Olympic were not that bad when you get yourself prepared for it. We are HERE on halki for 28 days so it was much cheaper with Olympic than I could find independently for the same length of time. The Butterfly hotel was very noisey but it was mainly due to the construction of the build. No one was rude or nasty. Losing one day out of 28 isn't a big deal. I do appreciate that losing a day out of a weeks holiday would be unacceptable. We get the train to Gatwick so if we get an early flight I have to spend the night in the airport as the first train gets you there too late. So it's six of one and half a dozen of the other. Glass of retsina has just arrived so watching the ferry come in and having a drink.

Dizzy - hear where you are coming from but the add on travel from this wee place on the outer edge of Scotland even to get to the airport for departure is almost as long as the flight to Rhodes. We are still getting therapy for our first encounter with Falaraki so no way will we put ourselves through that again. Will pay more and get comfort. We potentially would have lost two days out of 14!!! However main thing is you are there and having a good time. Hope you didn't take your homework with you - life's too short - kick back and enjoy the view and the plonk!!
