We never did get to the bottom of the "yahgts" controversy did we?
As for camping on Halki, I will not mention the bouffant hair!

Hello again, thank you for the replies and a very belated Happy New Year.
Yes I definitely meant 2012 (whoops at my typo in my very first post tut tut ). We have booked with olympic holidays we did email Nissia several times but never got a response.
We are stayaing at the Petros Apartments for two weeks in early August 2012. I have looked for reviews on the apartments but couldnt find any except those on the Olympic website.
For the last couple of years we have gone to Skiathos but this year fancied a change and wanted a quiet relaxing holiday also this will be our first wedding anniversary as well. I chose Halki based on your comments on the message board so you all have a lot to answer for.
No doubt I will be hounding you for ideas and questions nearer the time but I just wanted to say hi and thank you for the welcome. Hope to speak soon Mandy

Hi Mandy, Happy New Year to you ;D Please ask away, someone on here is bound to know the answer to your queries. Just a thought why dont you ask about Petros apartments in the accomodation section it might get noticed more there than on this general section

Hi Mandy We've been to Skiathos three times (Troulos and Koukounaries in May /June and Koukounaries in August). Halki will probably seem livelier than both (especially early in the season) mainly because everything is centred around the harbour as opposed to being spread out (it's positively cosmopolitan compared to Kouk in May ;D). Depending on when you go, it might be quiet towards the end of the evening, but saying that, we've never managed to get back to our apartments before the early hours regardless of when we've been The local people are lovely and as long as you're not looking to club it every night I'm sure you'll love it

Hi , Im new to this site though not to Halki ! Im visiting this year with my three children, for my fifth time in july. I am really looking forward to it. ;D I noticed that Mandy you are looking for info on the petros apps ? I stayed there in 2007 in the ground floor app, there is an upstairs also. The bottom one sleeps four in two twin rooms. Unless they have been upgraded they were very basic but clean. The good points were the large balcony and eating area, and also the outside but very roomy and well equipped kitchen. It had to be accessed from an outside small set of steps but this caused us no problems. One tip though don't do what we did and when the water stopped turn the tap on but forget to turn it back again ! When the water did come back on and we were at the beach , the whole kitchen flooded ! Not good and we had a well deserved telling off (in greek) from the lady in charge ! !! Hence to say since returning to Halki we have learnt our lesson !

Hi Allybc and welcome to the forum from another newby xxx. Thank you for your comments regarding the apartments, I have stayed in several greek apartments over the years and can relate to the "very basic" comment. As long as the apartment is safe, clean and not isolated I dont mind!

Mandy . Nowhere on Halki Is isolated , I'm not familiar with the Petros apartments but I'm sure they are fairly central .. And the whole harbour at a snails pace is 10-15 mins !.. Don't worry .. It will be fine . Trust me ! ... I'm not a doctor lol

Hi All, We tried to resist returning to Halki for a third year, thinking that we might try somewhere new, but Halki is just so close to our ideal that the search can wait! Booked for June for a week, so we may see some of you there?
Regards, Dave and Gill

Hello everyone! Thought this would be the ideal thread to say a big hello to all of you. I think we all share the same love for the island of Halki!
Have a great Halki holiday this year! I've booked mine for October this year, but I think I will get the chance to visit for a couple of days during the season. I was there in the winter and it was interesting to say the least!
Best wishes,
Triantafyllos or Daffy if you find that Greek name of mine difficult :-)
