Other than those travelling with Nissia or Olympic, taxis are crucial for the Airport to KS and KS to the Airport links.

Has anyone done these return journeys this year such that we could have an up to date fare cost for both.

Based on the continued rise for the last 5 years or so it must be close on 100 euros.

I abhor rumour, so a definitive figure for both ways would be a bonus on this very informative site.

I can't yet give a figure for this year, but in late September last year the fare from the airport to KS was between 35 and 40 euros (I always get the driver to specify the fare before starting the journey) and about 45 (I think some people paid 50) for the return journey when using a taxi pre-booked to meet the ferry. The journey from KS to the airport can be cheaper, more like 35-40 euros, if you are prepared to wait at KS on the chance of picking up a taxi delivering people there, or phoning for a taxi from KS. An update for this year would be useful, I suspect fares may now be higher.

I'd also be interested to know what this year's fare is likely to be in September from Rhodes town to KS, if anyone has recently done that journey by taxi.

:)Hi,our taxi was 40 euros from airport and 50 euros for return.
We managed to get a taxishare for the return journey which helps with costs,so maybe you should put a post on the board with your dates.

We shared with Sunfun on our return, and as she says, it was 50 Euros, but I know of people who paid 60 Euros from KS to airport this year.

We also paid 40 on the way out, which is the price on the board at the airport. I rather got the impression that the driver was going to charge us more .....

chris8331 - there is quite a lot of information about the bus schedule on another posting (started by animalwelfare) headed......"Bus Schedule". That would be a good starting point to look at.

The ferry cost is about 10 euros per person each way - ie 10 euros last September, maybe someone could advise if it's increased this year?. (By next year, depending on certain political and economic events, it could be 100 drachmas, payable in dollars.)

Amanda, I think I'm right in saying that the price shown on the board next to the taxi rank at the airport is the price applying to "Old Kameiros", not to Kamira Skala; the distance to the latter is further, so the fare is normally greater than shown on the board....unless it's recently changed so that there is now a fare listed to KS itself?

The ferry prices are:
Free - if you are traveling with Nissia on a Wednesday.
€5 on a scheduled trip. This may apply on Wednesdays. It did for me last time.
€10 on a day trip.
€12.50 on the water taxi. (3/4hr as opposed to 1 1/4 hr).

That doesnt seem to have increased in price, I am fairly sure that is what we paid last year ;D

From my record of PETROL prices there has been an increase of 25% on last year. The Diesel is a little cheaper than basic unleaded (unlike the UK).

My experience of Taxi fares is that they vary a lot for my short trips, say to the airport (10min) can be €15 or €12. The fare to Rodos town is €15-22! If the airport to Kamiros Skala is 30min+ I would expect it to be at least €40. The trouble is they put a premium on it for no return fare. There is a legitimate premium for a call-out.

At the airport it would be worth while drawing the driver's attention to the price board and agreeing the fare in advance as muriman suggests.

The problem is none of them want to go to Kamiros Skala in the first place!

Bus schedule
The bus from Rhodos town to Kamiros Skala is from Monday to Friday about- around 2.00 pm at the airport. It starts at 1.20 pm in Rhodos town.
Wait at the bus stop in front of the cafe, where every bus pass.
Better you ask every passing busdriver for "Kamiros Skala", so you cannot miss it. There is no sign inside the bus.
The ferry waits for the bus arrival.

The bus return in the morning at kamiros Skala to Airport and Rhodes town is few minutes after arrival of the ferry. The bus stop is at the street, you have enough time it go there.

probably this helps to avoid a taxi. There is extra space in the bus for luggage.
