I am assuming most, if not all of the tavernas in Halki, sell traditional Greek fare, one of the reasons we chose it. I don't go to Greece to eat what an ex boss of mine in Crete referred to as 'scata for the tourists'. I am looking forward especially to pork souvlaki, gigantes, fried kolokethia, stuffed tomatoes and lots of horiatiki salad & tzatziki. Is this the sort of food that will be served in most tavernas? Can you tell I am getting excited now?

I don't think you'll be disappointed Kallopi We went into a taverna in Crete once , when the girl heard us speak she turned to her mate and said 'English ! They will want roast beef and apple Pie ! ...... We left ! There is a good variety on the menus on Halki I think you'll find everything on your list

Excellent, can't wait. Dare I ask or is too much to hope for, can you get souvlaki or giros in pitta bread to take away?

Does anyone know the name of the bar, that used to be Miriam or Musses, depending on which thread you read ;D?

I don't know what it's called now but if it was Muses then it's on your left ( looking in from the harbour at the bottom of a flight of steps
