Arrived home lunchtime yesterday after fantastic holiday made very special by the friends that were there, you all know who you are and a big hug goes to all of you , it was probably the best holiday we have had in Halki and it looks like it is going to be repeated with the same cast next year ;D ;D Halki remains much the same as ever, a few more renovations are going on which is good, Ftenagia has one more house to be built and that is all, the gardens around the first houses are looking very nice and becoming established and it all blends in tastefully. The daytrippers did not bother us too much at Ftenagia but it was apparently a different story at Pondamos where the beach became overcrowded and uncomfortable when they arrived. Before I get shot down in flames and get told they are bringing revenue to the island I actually think they add very little, the ones we saw brought packed lunches with them from their hotels and sat on towels on the beach, so no revenue for the taverna or from sunbeds, the only people making anything substantial are the boat owners. The other downside of this is that some people who are regulars are cancelling for next year and new visitors are saying they will not return, that is surely not a good sign. The hotel is open and looks very nice, we had a couple of drinks on the beautiful terrace, thoroughly reccomend it ;D Flights were on time, unlike Daisy, we told the TC rep at Rhodes very plainly we were going by taxi to Kamiros and getting the early ferry at our own cost which worked really well only to find she had not passed the message on and they were waiting for us, thankfully Daisy knew where we were and sorted it out, the TC rep also told us there was only one ferry !!!!! They really do need to get their act together if they are continuing to offer Halki in their brochure We did the Alimnia trip last sunday on the Kristianikis which was great, it was good to get back there after a three year break and a good time was had by all, it got a bit lumpy on the way back which was interesting I will probably think of more later but the washing is staring at me and the sun is shining here so will finish for now

Welcome back Carol and everyone else who has just returned, its always good to hear news from Halki. My tickets arrived yesterday which always seems to bring the holiday a wee bit closer - not an XL flight thank goodness! Hopefully TC will stay afloat at least until I get to Halki, I can think of worse places to be stranded in.

Welcome back Carol ..it was lovely to meet you and Grahame That week since we left you has been the most depressive week of my life ...knowing that you were all still out there was painfull The week before you arrived Ftenagia was much busier with trippers . George Peppard was on his toes to catch them using the sunbeds lol ;D I think most of them either are 'steered' into particular tavernas or they go to one of the beaches with their packed lunches ..some seemed to while away the time in Nicks with a couple of drinks . One lunch time we had gone to Valentis's Gyro bar - a group of trippers had got stuff from the bakery and were sat under the tree with their feet on the chairs ..they were soon shifted ;D Hopefully a middle ground will be found so as not to p*ss off the peeps are staying on Halki but others can visit for a day

Hi Carol and all of you lovely September friends - thought it was time I posted after being a silent visitor fan for the past year! What a fabulous holiday we have just had - I was really worried that going to the same place a second time would be a disappointment but far from it. I don't think we have ever laughed so much and I am now a true retsina convert ! I can't wait to go back again next year but still dithering about who to book with - a bit put off going independently though with all the airline troubles. So ....."Team Halki" get training for next year. Only 51 weeks to go!!

Pegs and flowered caps at the ready swans, flowers and upside down moves being practised as I type. ;D ;D Having lost our flights with XL have re booked with TC which has probably put the jinx on them now.

Welcome Fergie, good to see you here with your september friends, we had one of the best holidays ever this year and I am so pleased we have converted you to the retsina although your other half did not look impressed at all with it, in fact he was spotted rinsing his mouth with beer after being persuaded to taste it ;D Definitely need to do more practice for the synchronised swimming or we will not make the olympic team !!! Certain peoples suggestion that we weighted our swimsuit bottoms down with pebbles has been firmly rejected, as you know there is no way I am getting my hair wet
