I know what you mean Liz!
I guess those who are there can't contribute, and those who aren't there are just staring at the rain. And the ones who have yet to go are probably shopping and packing.
And I'm just hoping and praying ......

It mightn't be so quiet when they turn on that machine in Switzerland later today My poor DS has worked himself up into a right state about it Think I will leave going to the supermarket to do the weekly shop until after they've done the experiment ;D

Quite so ... although I'm sure that wouldn't necessarily be the last thing going through my mind as we get sucked into a black hole Gong off on a happier tangent one of my daughter's old school friends won a silver medal in Beijing in the 100 m sprint yesterday. Well done, Libby Clegg ;D

I think they have switched it on and the thing is up and running already. I believe the 'big bang' is scheduled for mid-day but not sure if that is CET or BST According to my daughter, if it goes wrong it won't be instantaneous but will take a couple of weeks for the black holes to grow big enough to consume us ... quite how she knows that I'm not sure Perhaps she has been paying attention and not just flirting with the boys in Physics after all

I'd read (in The Times I think) that it could take up to 4 years before it's all over. Apparently it could take that long for the 'black hole' to eat it's way from the centre of the earth.
All jolly good fun isn't it?
