We've just found out (not through Olympic hols tho) that our flight to Rhodes in May is not being operated by Monarch. When I rang to find out who was operating it, they confirmed it was no longer Monarch but couldn't tell me who it was and advised me to ring customer services tomorrow. I'm a bit worried as the replacement I saw mentioned in the thread I found out from operate old Macdonald Douglas planes  , and I've never heard of some of the others (one's a Czech run operation). I did a bit of searching to find corresponding flights and I think (tho I'm not sure) that we might be with Agean  . If that's the case then I'm perfectly happy. Does anyone know whether AEE is Agean, or, has anyone else going with Olympic hols been advised of flight changes  |

Hi Liz I rang Olympic today and they advised me that it will be an Aegean charter flight (I didn't think Aegean did charter flights ). Hope it is with Aegean as I understand that they are very good. Fingers crossed as some of the others mentioned sounded a bit "iffy". |

Go to Olympic website type in holiday to Rhodes on your dates and you will get info on who you are flying with,I did this for my dates May and September from Manchester and found going with Jet2 ,

Aegean don't fly from Manchester, unfortunately.
They have free drinks & edible free meals + no extra charges for seats. Civilised travel.
Can't see them entering plane lease business either.
Suspect the Jet2 info is correct. If so I recommend row 5 or 6 !!

Been doing a bit more digging. Travel republic have a flight from Manchester code AEE at the time that we are due to fly (the Jet 2 one is earlier) which ties in with what the girl from Olympic told me. Also had a "nosey" around Aegean's site and they have five planes which they use for charters - yippeedoo ;D ;D I don't think you have all the frills you get on the scheduled flights, but at least I've heard of Aegean and have seen some good reviews (and, reassuringly, their planes have the engines where you can see them!! ;D)

Amanda - Rows 5 & 6 have extra legroom & are reasonably near the drinks trolley.

Harry has just told me that he noticed 5 & 6 had extra leg room as we were leaving the aircraft last time.  Shame he didn't tell me before I booked ...... bless ;D ;D |

Whisper is that Olympic flights will indeed be operated by Strategic. Australian owned but with a base in Luxemburg. The French DID revoke their license and at the moment, they only have one aircraft based in Europe. Olympic are also said to be operating flights with Tor Air. This is a Swedish owned outfit, again currently with only one aircraft. More worringly is the rather clone like similarity to the oft mentioned Viking!!! It seems that some if not all those involved in Viking and Kiss etc., have arisen again. Beware. I would not like to be on an Olympic Holiday flight this season. |
