we had very good meals with our group (7 - 11 people) in October in the new tavern (marina`s sister ? ) moderate prices and a good choice. We had all together lots of fine things on the table and asked for "the cooked dinner of the day". And this was ok. We didn`d eat "a la carte" . We have been there 4 times and it was good. 1 time we ate at "Maria". We also asked for the "choice of the day" and had a very good dinner. (they had 3 choices) 1 time we had a "dinner to go" from the new grill house. Very good burger, very good potatoes. After all, I must say that we were very hungry in the evenings, because we worked the long day from very early in the mornings..... (maybe "hunger is the best cook")

Ah well, I suggested it so I suppose I had better put my head above the parapet.....Star system applies.
Avra/Black Sea - We ate there a couple of times + Vanios/Wifes birthday party. Food was good standard food. I think that they do the winter soups/stews better than the "Greek" menu. ***
Babis - Twice here too. The favourite of 2 of our team. Service was a bit slack though. Missed a couple of starters completely. But food that did arrive was very good. ****
Remezzo - Got excellent marks from my mother for the fish but I wasn't too impressed with my non fishy meal. Only got one visit from me. **
Marias - One visit plus a takeaway order of starters. The food was good but there were no Dolmades available, my wife remembers these were always the best on the island so disappointed. Good service & decent meal. ***
Valandis Gyro - If I had my way I would live on the Pork Gyros. Excellent food, not just the Gyros but everything they cook is good & also good company. *****
Cristos Gyro - Again whats not to like. I personally prefer the other Gyros but the burgers etc are great. Again its a great place to eat snacks or meals. *****
Lefkosia - Only ate there the once. Service was very slow. The food was very salty & we were not too impressed. I will try again as everyone can have an off night. *
Minori - Favourite taverna. Ate here 3 times & had good food every time and good service. The Creten items on the menu made a nice change. Suggest the Raki is avoided though, made the walk back to Theodosia's a bit dodgy. *****
Also ate at the hotel with Vanio but I am not counting that one as it was our anniversary meal cooked with all our favourites. Damn good though.

used to be known as "MUSSES" (I think) now run by Anna and her son, order a drink and mezze, traditional, superb and very different to any other food offering on the Island. We where a party of 7, the dishes seemed endless all different and just enough to make you want to try them again.

A week was not long enough to try them all, a week was not long enough full stop! We ate on an evening at Minoris, Babis, Lefkosia, Vantis, (twice) Black Sea and Remezzo. Lunchtimes: Kai Ftais, Ftengia and the taverna at Pondamos (don't know the name) it is open on Friday nights too. We didn't have a bad meal! A few comments, we both loved the Valantis, good food and so inexpensive, I would recommend it to anyone on a budget, well no, I would recommend it to anyone, budget or not. Elena & Valantis are expecting their second son in September. The meal I enjoyed the most? The fricasse at Minoris, it was lamb with local 'greens' not the usual lettuce, it was wonderful, Maria is lovely a fab cook. As mentioned elsewhere on here, though the service is very, very, slow & a bit chaotic. Maria does the cooking and English/Scottish Mike does the waiting on, IMHO they need more help, two people is not enough. The best service award has to go to the Remezzo, unfortunately I don't know the name of the wonderful waiter who served us that night. We really enjoyed the company of Kiki with her larger than life personality at Lefkosia, what a great personality she has. I would go to any of them again. The problem is we were torn between wanting to try as many as we could in our limited time & wanting to go back to ones we had enjoyed. We also enjoyed wonderful fresh bread and bougatsa (twice) from Dimitri's Bakery as well as cocktails (me not RRE, he had beer) early evening on the terrace of the hotel. Does any one know why I put on four pounds in weight in a week?

Thamks for that, we all have our own special favourites, we tell everyone to try all the tavernas as personal taste is different for all of us, lunches for us has to be at Ftenagia, the food atmosphere and view is priceless but like you I love Lefkosias in the evening, Kiki and her family make you feel very welcome and if you are lucky you may also get music and dancing to add to the great food, counting the days until we return in september ;D
