Has anyone flying from Birmingham had their flight changed to Gatwick ? Lisa phoned me earlier to say that they had received an email changing them from a Thomson flight at 7am Bham to an Easyjet at 5.50am from Gatwick !! We are booked on the same Bham flight a week earlier, 1st Sept but have so far heard nothing at all, we both booked our flights with Travel Republic, just wondered if anyone had any information, it all seems a bit odd

Dont know Kathy, it is rather strange but we are wondering if Lisa has been bumped off the flight, the cost now is about £470 but we all paid about £270 at Christmas, do they now think they can get £470 for the same tickets, I may be cynical but ? !!!!

:oCarol, that is shocking! Surely they can't get away with doing that? Certainly hope not anyway. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

That is not only a change of time and airport, but a change of airline. Sounds to me like a job for the Small Claims Court if they insist on these changes!

Although I haven't checked the small print of the agent's (apparently in this case Travel Republic) terms and conditions, I'm pretty sure that Lisa would be entitled to a full refund, plus possible compensation either from the agent or from an insurance claim depending on the agent's terms of business and on the coverage of a particular travel insurance policy. TR is a member of the trade association ABTA so there should be normal ABTA financial protection. But then the problem is: if you opt for cancellation and a refund, can you book suitable flights elsewhere? So it may be worth accepting the change, unsatisfactory though it is. Something clearly went very wrong with the booking between the agent and the flight operator or consolidator. I suppose one moral is: beware Travel Republic (although I believe they have had a good reputation up to now?). I've just returned from a sailing trip around the Peleponnese, at the start of which I had to spend hours on a bus from Athens after the Greek aviation authority stopped Athens Airways services to Kythera, ten days before my booked flight which had been carefully arranged to meet a sailing itinerary (and I've not yet had the promised refund); so flight changes are a bit of a sore point with me! I'm hoping EZY to/from RHO in September will be less fraught.

Ah! I didn't see jk's posting before I started writing mine. The refund plus re-booking route seems to have been the solution. You may even have been able to get cheaper fares - and EZY don't have a weight restriction on hand baggage, compared with Monarch's (and TCook's) very tight limit which forces most people to pay for hold baggage.
We are taking a similar view about the 0555 EZY from LGW, on 22 Sept - the pain of early morning check-in and the inconvenience of Gatwick should at least be offset by having plenty of time at KS. I'd be interested to know - are you booked to return from RHO on the 1230 flight or the later one at 2055? I've reckoned that the morning ferry to KS should allow reasonably comfortable time to get the 1230.

Oh no Carol, the later the better for me, as long as it's in time to catch the ferry. Much as I don't mind having a bit of time at Kamiros Skala, I'd rather have a few extra hours in bed and not arrive feeling like death because I've had to get up at 3.45 am. Oh no! I've just realised, I'm sounding like an old person! Help!!

I'm with you Amanda on this one, I would rather get enough sleep! So I must be getting old too! Mind you, last year our flight was around 7. 30am,and left on time. We arrived at Rhodes airport at about 11pm, thanks to an emergency diversion to Croatia! Worst journey ever for us! ;D ;D ;D
