Just been in for a "nosey" and the following message is displayed when you click on the noticeboard tab "We wish to inform you that by popular demand the Halki Visitor Noticeboard will be up and running again at the beginning of September, just in time for all you loyal visitors to Halki!" Shame they couldn't have got their act together so it was running during the months when a lot of people, particularly any first timers, were going to Halki rather than towards the end of the season

Personally after the reply I had from them I doubt if it will happen, and anyway do we really need them now ?

I totally agree with what everyone has said, given the following reservations. 1. Is it a lot of hard work for Liz and Daisy? 2. How do new people wanting to visit the island get info about Halki? Having said all of that .......I much prefer it here....less restrictive and far more friendly.

The question of getting people aware that there is a new noticeboard is very valid, any suggestions as to how we could spread the word ? Obviously Symi visitor will not put an advert in for us but do you think some tavernas might put a flyer up ? I know that will not help new people, they are the ones we really need to target as they will need the information. Any ideas ?

I would imagine that usually the first thing people do if they've not been somewhere before is to put their destination into Google. However, I don't know how Google works so don't know how you get to be on the first page. I tried it and this noticeboard isn't even in the first three pages when a lot of people would have given up.
Can't think of anything else at the moment but will give it some thought.
I'd certainly agree that this board is more fun and more friendly. As others have said, it's nice to be able to chat about what we want without treading on anyone's toes.

I have registered the site with Google but havn't noticed any webcrawlers on site as yet ..obviously with it being a free board then we have no say in when they will look if at all . As to is it hard work ..well no not really ..I pressganged Daisy and Carol to help me so that no one feels pressured to be 'around ' all the time . we have been promised a couple of reciprocal links from other sites so that should help ..but any suggestions are more than welcome The one thing I don't want to do in all our excitement is offend any of the people of Halki but if we can help newcomers to find impartial advice then that will be a job well done

I've got to agree with everyone else, this is a great notice board even though I'm a bit quiet I have a wee look most days. I'm a bit of a technophobe (spelling???) so haven't got a clue about how people will find us, Carol sent me the link.
