You beat me to it Liz! Villa Amalia is immediately next door to the old DG Hiona if anybody is looking for a reference point.
I wonder if anybody has anything to say about this, we've booked for September next year in one of the apartments. Apparently the studio has a height of 1.95m so we decided to pay the extra 70euros for the apartment.

we stayed next to it a couple of years ago -in the Hiona -it looks beautifull and finished to a really high spec ;D ( sound like an estate agent now don't I lol )
From what I remember the terraces are a good size -lovely and sunny and there are steps into the water at the side -absolute bliss ;D

Just some feedback on Villa Amalia, we stayed in mid-September.
I'm glad we chose to stay in the apartment - very spacious - apart from the bathroom which is tiny. Plenty of wardrobe space in the bedroom. The kitchen was well equiped even though our actual cooking amounted to boiling a kettle and getting some plates out. The bathroom even had a mirrored cabinet over the basin - first time I've ever seen a cabinet in a Greek bathroom. We found it slightly difficult to clean our teeth as the cabinet projected out over the basin (so there wasn't a lot of room to lean over the basin), until I perfected the technique of opening the cabinet door and shoving my forehead in it whilst brushing! The other thing that took some learning was which of the 16 light/power switches did what - a truly astonishing amount of switches in a 3 room apartment!
The terrace is a lovely but a little bit 'cosy'. There isn't a huge amount of space so you have to get clever when you are moving chairs, table and recliners around when trying to get shade under the brolly. However it's a minor inconvenience.
We had a quick look in the studio apartment - I can imagine it being incredibly hot overnight as the head height is very low and there are few options for opening windows in the day which don't face south. The upside of the studio is a much bigger terrace. To get from the upper apartment down to the sea you are supposed to walk right across the studio's terrace, however we went round the back of the building and down the steps between the Amalia and Hiona to avoid intruding on our downstairs neighbours too much.
We'd definitely stay at Amalia again. It has a great position and was very comfortable. Would hesitate about booking the studio in peak season though because of the heat.
