Hi What's Birmingham Aiport like? It will be the first time that we have used it. (3rd Sep) Can we expect big queues at check ins or through security? Any tips for somewhere quiet for coffee? We are staying at the Novotel so at least we won't have far to go so early in the morning.

Sorry can't really help , we've only used it once and we were so late getting there ,the checkout girl just grabbed our hands and ran us through the airport so we didn't get to see any of it

We have used Birmingham a few times and like you stay overnight at the Novotel. Smaller and quieter than Manchester, though not as quiet as East Mids. We found the restaurant in the hotel has started to be very expensive, but just walk over the road to the terminal for a selection of restaurants (Frankie & Bennies, for example), whatever you are happy with. Depending on what time you check in, in the morning, you can collect your boarding pass then return to the hotel for breakfast, again we find it a bit expensive, but it is a more peaceful atmosphere than any airport lounge, just don't lose track of the time :-).

Thanks for that. It may be similar to Bristol then. we fly at 0715 so breakfast will probably be light so that we can save ourselves for that lovely airplane breakfast!
