Now I hope this isn't a touchy subject or anything, but after some years of not using Halki forums, there now seem to be two; this one and Halki Visitor.
Why not merge them?

Very happy to see the back of the old one. This site is adminstered in a spirit which seems to suit all. The "old" moderator was a smashing guy but the admin left a lot to be desired. No thanks! If it works, don't meddle.

Hi John, Liz started this site when the old Halki visitor site finished and Daisy and I are moderators, we have been going for nearly a year now and things seem to run fairly smoothly, we have no restrictions so people are able to speak freely and also we are able to give links to properties which we would be unable to do if we were associated with the Halkivisitor. Everyone seems happy about this arrangement and we get a lot of support and help from our visiting guests and particularly from our members so really there is no need for anything to change, you only need to look at the numbers of people visiting each site to see which is better supported, at the end of the day there is room for both of us  |

John - We can only endorse the comments made by Liz, Carol, Fatcat, & sth. Carol made a point that I have noticed over the last few weeks in that the "activity" on the "other" board is very poor compared to this site. I have said it before and I will say it again that Liz, Carol, Daisy and anyone else who help with this site do a terrific job and long may it continue, but they rely on the people to contribute to make it the success it has achieved.

Curiosity made me have a look at the other site today for the first time, it looks unloved and on its last legs.  This site is like a breath of fresh air; great fun, informative always interesting, often funny, sometimes thought - provoking. It's one of the best things after a hard day at work, one of life's simple pleasures! Long may it continue ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D |

thanks one and all. This goes some way to explaining it. John John ...for one reason or another the Halki Visitor board was pulled at short notice -I have no complaints about Ian he did a great job ..I was rather tired of being told to stay on topic and not to chatter etc ( not by Ian I might add but by other members who saw it as 'their territory' ) when the board closed I set this one up originally as a stop gap ( if you read the welcome message at the top of our board you will see that.) The board took off really well and with the help and support of Carol and Daisy and all our members and guests we have built this up to be what it is ...a nice place to be ..its not the biggest forum in the world but it suits us . The HV board took longer to come back up than was expected and by that time we were quite happy here . We have no tie or relationship with the HV or any other buisness for that matter ..that way we can be open,honest and impartial, we do allow advertising of properties , services ...whatever ..if its connected to Halki it can be plugged ...in moderation obviously ! I think the information we get across to people is done accuratey and timely I am not going to get into a 'my boards better than your board 'debate but I am fiercely proud of this board ,its members,guests,lurkers, Uncle Tom cobbly and all People are free to use whichever websites they please the www is huge ( how many dog/cat/car/motorbike forums are there ? ) So there you have it |

I must admit that I never look at the Visitor anymore. I will second that it's demise was nothing to do with the moderator on there who at times had a thankless job. Liz and the girls lept into the breach and we've never looked back. THANKYOU. |

Well personally we all have Liz to thank she's the one with the "knowledge" ;Dand as a moderator well easy peasy job cos we all get on so well so no heavy hands needed here ;D
