:)Hi all Haven't been able to get on as our computer went haywire! We're novices anyway, but a windows 8 wanted to install and hubby clicked it....then everything froze.. .so be warned! When he went to the pc shop, they said this has been causing massive problems,so we won't be updating anything else

I too have just done battle with Windows Internet Explorer 8. It failed to allow me to write on any internal window, like the one I am using now. I beat the beastly thing into submission by re-installing it from the Google source, but it was a pain. And the end result is no more use than IE7, but doubtless takes up a lot more memory, as is usual with Microsoft's "upgrades".

I never install a new version of IE till all the bugs are ironed out ..you should update your windows regularly tho' as without the updates you are at risk from key loggers etc ..I use firefox as my default browser which I find alot quicker than IE

Ahhhh .... it's all making sense now. I had an idea that internet explorer was for ... well... exploring the internet . We use firefox as our default browser and have never had any problems

Re: IE8 vs Firefox. She-who-must-be-obeyed uses IE and when tried loading IE8 her whole system went TU. Like Simon I had to rescue the moment by downloading IE8 from a Google entry, at least it now works OK. I use Firefox and not only is it more stable but it is a darn sight quicker. Hope this helps?

I am in total agreement. I have had Firefox for years and would not change. Trouble free.
