Hi has anyone flown to rhodes with Monarch? we go for two weeks on July 29th from Gatwick . We usually go from Cardiff with DG as this is nearest to our home in Cornwall, obviously Cardiff is a no no thanks to the Thomas cook takeover and botch up, any news gratefully received Rollo

Hi Rollo :)We flew with monarch last month and it was fine. The food was dire...but that's normal for planes ain't it?

Yep - used Monarch morning flight from LGW on 13 May, back 20 May. Flight out (0910 I think)arrived a little ahead of scheduled time, flight back a bit delayed but by less than half an hour. I'd unintentionally booked in-flight food, which was OK for a charter flight. Only problem was because it was such a large plane (Airbus) and we were a group of four with hold baggage, the bags took ages to come off the conveyor at LGW (having arrived surprisingly quickly at Rhodes, although that may have been because there was a long queue to get through passport control there, so it took a time to get to the luggage carousel - the passport queue was again partly a result of such a large number of pax arriving at the same time).
Overall, on the basis of that experience I would use them again, especially having suffered a big delay last year with a TCook flight. But I wish an operator would reinstate the Bristol morning flight!
Hope you have a good trip - it would be interesting to know how it goes, when you get back.

With you on that one Muriman, an early flight from Bristol or Cardiff would be useful for us lot living in the south west, probably going to do Birmingham next year anything is better than the trek to LGW

Hi Rollo
We are going on the same day for two weeks, so will see you there. Jane told us that you were going as we have two children ages 14 and 11. Jane is hopefully arranging tamed taxi drivers to take us to the port.
We have flown with Monarch a few times and they were fine. We are flying with Thomas Cock (sic) up this time. I am starting a new thread on this one!
Best,
Andrew

Can't you even type "cock" without it being censored?

Our e-ticket says the Monarch flight leaves at 07.00 getting back into GWK at 15.00. Checked departures at GWK today and the Monarch flight says 'scheduled' departure at 09.00, return flight getting in 'scheduled' 18.30 arriving 18.55. Travelling 02/09 - will we get revised schedules or is it waiting for an extra 2 hours at the dreaded South Terminal?

Bloody Hell Rollo - look what you've started. Is it my imagination or is there a bit of friction developing at Halki Visiting. I'm assuming you got there OK. We're flying with Monarch from Edinburgh next Wed. Look forward to seeing you all.

Totally agree about ANY early morning flights from West Country, wish they would reinstate them. Now spoken to Airflights and they confirmed Monarch flight is rescheduled to 0910 returning GWK 1830 - middle of rush hour! Does anyone know if they give any sort of meal or is it best to go armed with a 'sarnie' and drink from M&S?
