Sadly, people will settle for an overnight stay in Rhodes because there are no other options when an early flight suddenly becomes a late flight.
Pensioner2's compensation of £39 is derisory and quite rightly should be vigorously contested. The way I see it, if Pensioner2 is accompanied, he will have paid circa £134 per night for his accommodation. He is denied this for the first night and also deprived of one day on Halki.
We have seen all that there is to see of Rhodes town both old and new and it is no substitute for Halki. By my reckoning he is some £100 out of pocket plus the inconvenience!!
This situation is somewhat diluted because he has a 14 day holiday to chill out and get over it. The loss of a whole day on Halki is worse for those who only have 7days holiday. Collectively we should be doing everything we can to let TC know that a night stop on Rhodes is unacceptable and their flight timings from whatever airport, for Halki bookings, should be timed to match up with the ferries. As an ex aircraft engineer I am aware that aircraft can be delayed due to unserviceability and for that reason flight times cannot be guaranteed. This however, should be the exception, not the rule!
However, since TC 'took over' DG, I have synically suspected that the service to Halki would deteriorate. The contractual problems with some properties and the schizophrenic timings of their flights is sadly reinforcing my views.
I would not be at all surprised if TC quit Halki because it is too small a fish for their system. None of their staff knows where Halki is anyway!
Nissia could well manage the properties and transfers from Diagoras airport, but as Di so rightly says both Nissia and independant travellers will still be competing for seats on the same TC,Thomson and Monarch aircraft that hopefully will arrive in time for the ferries.
I hope that my jaundiced views are merely paranoia and that this is just a TC glitch. However, I am looking into the Jet2 situation and other flights that operate timely services from more northern airports. I have used East Midlands and Manchester in the past, albeit a long trip from Norwich but Gatwick is a similar distance as the crow flies!
Have a great time those who have yet to go. Enjoy the renovated harbourfront. Is Lefkosia's new taverna rivalling Avra and is Dimitri (ex Costas) still working in Rhodes. Great news that Angelo has returned to Fteniagia. The property for sale sites are great fun but pipe dreams unless we win the lottery. Can pigs fly?

Has anyone received any reply from Thomas Cook's flight to Rhodes on 17th June and the subsequent mix up re taxis from the Hotel to the port when 13 passengers turned up to get into ONE taxi who had been put into The Doretta Beach Hotel overnight .
