Hi everyone. Imagine my horror when I opened the envelope with my tickets for two weeks on Halki (or so I thought) and realised that I appeared to be going to Villa Somethingorother on Rhodes??? Turned out that there had been some kind of contractural disagreement with the people that own Nitsa which I booked last August, and I'd been transferred to Rhodes because they had no availability on Halki. That's when I realised how much I love Halki. Anyway Jane (Chapman) to the rescue, booked Margarita next door to Nitsa (same dates - kept the flights from Edinburgh). Next year I will definitely be traveling independently. Thomas Cook just basically don't care. Anyway I've calmed down now!
BTW Jane and Tony - to answer your question on another post, Angelo/Vangelis IS actually at Ftenagia - See you on June 24th.

What a shock I'm so glad you managed to sort it! I can't believe T.C. don't seem to understand the difference between two weeks in beautiful, peaceful Halki and Rhodes! As for not finding out until it arrived in the post ....... not a great advert for them as a travel company is it? I'm very pleased you were able find an alternative so near to your travelling dates! Have a great holiday!! ;D ;D

Pleased to hear you have got it sorted out successfully Stuart, it never fails to amaze me that even now TC have no idea that people who holiday on Halki are very unlikely to want to spend their time on Rhodes. We are going the independant route for the first time this year and after getting absolutely nowhere with TC regarding prebooking for next year we are doing the same for 2010 and the foreseeable future. Hope you have a great holiday. Good news about Angelo, we missed him last year and very much look forward to seeing him in September.

Thanks Kathy. The interesting thing is that When I called them to try to sort it out, the person on the phone actually said "Halki? where's that?" What can you say? Anyway looking forward to a couple of weeks at the end of June and back again in August for a week with Thomas Cook (well hopefully!)

Yep - TC just don't get it about Halki (probably a very good thing). They actually seemed surprised that I wasn't interested in Lindos! I reckon that next year TC/DG may have very few villas on Halki anyway - I suspect that the contractural wrangles may not be confined to Nitsa - I don't mind as long as I can still get to Rhodes from Edinburgh or Glasgow. Back to Halki on Aug 05 (without my kids - that'll be weird), so might pass you at the airport Kathy.

That is awfull ...Just as well you managed to get in touch with Jane ...but just imagine if it had been the middle of August and everywhere had been booked TC really don't have a clue ....Its one thing to transfer people to different resorts but to a completley different Island without telling you is just ridiculous

Couldn't believe my eyes basically - Jane was great. I was incredibly relieved to get it sorted out. Can you Imagine being stuck on Rhodes? Kind of a case of so close and yet so far - I'd have to become a day tripper!!!

I was only kidding guys but - fatcat, I like the bold statement! One thing that I've realised though, is how important that tiny wee piece of rock (Halki) is to me - anyway two and a half weeks to go...

I have to confess Stuart, that the reason we are only in Halki for one week is because our second week is in Pefkos, just up the road from Lindos!! I have a good excuse though (well, three actually!) My daughters are 2 x nearly 17and 1x nearly 16 and I think two weeks of Halki bliss for me would be a bit too much for them - so a livlier second week is the order of the day! The plan is we all chill the first week, and if they are good, they get some teenagey stuff the second week! When the time comes, i will report on both weeks - but I am not expecting any converts ;D ;D

Well Cathy - so good so far for me - but my kids are seven and soon to be 11(birthday two days after we arrive in Halki - he's had his birthday there for the last three or four years), but despite the fact that they totally love Halki - i know it might not last. Big positive is though that me and the kids have been for a luxurious extra week at the beginning of August for the last two years - and there is definitely a decent teen/social thing going on. Next year I might swap our two weeks in June/July for our one week in August. But we'll see. Ruaraidh (nearly 11) is already talking about going to Halki to work at Nicks when he's a student in a few year's time. Sounds great to me.
