Hi Everyone, off to Halki this Wednesday (whoop, sorry wrong thread but very excited ;D) and wondered what the situation is regarding day trippers this year. Can anyone that has been already tell me do they descend upon Pondamos beach as much as last year . It was nearly every day and hoping there wont be quite that many per week this year .

No answers Jude!!
Possibly the daytrippers have not started yet or everyone has migrated to Ftenagia after last years nightmare. Ftenagia is not that big either.

Sorry - too late for this weeks vsitors. There was only one small group of visitors in the fortnight whilst we were there but no idea where they went! Both beaches were pretty deserted!

Now returned and can confirm day trippers are greatly reduced. In fact the only ones that made it down to Pondamos were on a Tuesday. Our first week only around a dozen appeared and just filled up the sun-beds...no problem . But our second Tuesday hoards of them arrived and not only filled the sun-beds but also most of the sand just like last year. But as it was only once a week, I feel, the situation is much improved and acceptable. Its just a pity it happens on everyones last day. We were told that they are in fact Russian day trippers (they did sound like it) and not Greeks. Definitely not as noisy! ;D ;D ;D

I'm just wondering if the reason could have been that the Nissos Halki has had other fish to fry ie. standing in for the Tilos ferry. Maybe not but as it was the prime day tripper carrier, possibly. I doubt the day trippers have gone

Yes sth, you could be right. Hadn't thought about that but it does make sense. Do you know how long the Tilos ferry will take to repair, hopefully not until after October when this season has come to a close ;D
