Lucky you two! Bowling's loss is Halki's gain. We're keeping our fingers crossed but can't book anything yet as we're waiting for a house sale to be finalised. We may see you there yet! Have a good journey.

To Kathy: I regret, having a car, I rarely use public transport. I don't even know when the bus goes from my village to town. Intuitively I would think one vehicle is better than two. I am sure it would be necessary to book it. As I have already said, in the days when I needed a taxi to K Skala no-one wanted to know me & I kept moving down the queue wondering if I was going to miss the ferry. It is quite possible to get from Kamiros Skala to Lindos without having to go all the way to Rodos Town. Can I suggest you contact www.zifostravel.gr? They will probably give you sensible advice. If you know Jane's personal number you could use that, but as it is business it is better to use the Zofos numbers; on the site.

For what it's worth, I returned yesterday (one of a pary of four adults). To get a taxi from the airport to KS, I spoke to the taxi-rank supervisor and was passed on to a driver about 6 taxis down the rank who was happy (or at least prepared) to take us. I have found in the past that it is not unusual for the first few drivers to be unwilling to go to KS but finding a willing driver has only taken a few minutes and has never been a big problem, especially if they are towards the back of the rank. I then asked the fare before the start of the journey, and was quoted 38 euros, which we paid with a small tip.
On the way back yesterday, we had plenty of time (before a 2.30pm check-in for the LGW Monarch flight) for a coffee and brunch snack at Loukas taverna at KS, so I decided it was worth taking the risk of not pre-booking a taxi, being prepared to phone for one from the taverna if necessary. In the event a taxi arrived to drop off passengers just as I was beginning to think I would have to phone for one. The driver was of course happy to get a return fare, which is something I have managed to do in the past when spare time has made this method feasible. This time, I didn't bother to check the fare beforehand; at the airport the driver consulted what looked like a printed guidance book of fares which apparently stated 32 euros for KS-Diagoras; we paid him 35 as he had been helpful; but he said that if a taxi had had to come out from the airport to pick us up the fare would have been a lot more. (However, in the past when the taverna staff have phoned for a taxi for me, a radio-controlled taxi has come - for which you need to allow say half an hour - and the fare has only been slightly above the standard one way price.)
If you look at price display boards, you need to make sure you don't confuse Kamiros Skala with Kameiros village or Old Kameiros (the village is less far from the airport and the standard fare to there is less than to KS).
I hope this information is of some help. Am now trying to adjust to non-Halki life!
