Hello,
We're all booked to visit Halki this August - first time on the island (didn't get off the ferry on past trips to Tilos and Symi) and really looking forward to it.
As it's been a few years since we were on any of the islands I wondered what prices are like now for meals, drinks etc.
Thanks

Yes, this would be useful for reference particularly with the Euro so dire, could one of you earlybirds just jot down a few prices as a guide please ? thanks ;D

Going on the 5th for 2 weeks - we'll try and make sure we don't wreck the place before you get there!

It it's any help, for a group of four adults during the week 13-20 May, evening meals seemed to total mostly between 40 and 50 euros, including drinks (usually either a mixture of retsina and beer among the four, or carafe plonk). So say around 12 euros per head. Typically this would include a couple of shared starters and a main course each. One evening was 51 euros (funnily enough, the poorest quality of all the meals we had, but I won't name the taverna) and one was about 39 euros, when we shared main courses and starters rather more than at other times.
Depending on one's predilictions and tastes, it might be necessary to allow for pre-dinner G&Ts/beers/whatever at Costa's or Apostoli's. The strength of the G&Ts at Costa's was such that I can't recall the price, but I think a round of four drinks (typically 2 spirits, one small beer, one soft drink) cost about 10-11 euros. You might also need to consider post-dinner ice cream or baklava, possibly with umpteen-star Metaxa, but the cost depends on the number of scoops (of ice cream, not Metaxa....although come to think of it I suppose that applies to both) and becomes a bit foggy. Hope that may help those wanting to plan their budgets. The ferry fare for those travelling independently was 10 euros per head each way.
