just something Carol said made me think ....how obsessed are you with the boats ?? We have squillions of pictures of the boats lined up along the harbour ,when the Lane Lines Ferry comes in, the whole island comes to a standstill ..people stop eating their meal to watch it turn around ...I confess to having a picture on my 'phone of it as it passed Ftenagia in the early hours one morning ! ....we have been known to get out of bed to watch it dock If a flash looking yacht comes in ..then the day is spent speculating on who owns it ..where is been and going and what we would do if it it were ours ( dream on ) ...and the water boat ....dear old Dafni ! ..like a favourite aunt in a flowery hat and slippers .............tell me I'm not alone on this ! ;D ;D

;D when I turn my laptop on, the screen fills with a lovely little fishing boat called the Katepina, its a really peaceful scene as it bobs around in the water. Its more beautiful than the flashiest yacht (Does this mean I have finally lost my marbles) ???Any way, I love it, I even printed it off & have it on my wall in work, to look at through the day..... believe it or not, I can't have it on my work screen because it's "personal" ::)When I worked on Halki, the locals called me katerina not Kathy. so I like it for that too! ;D

I remember our very first trip to Halki, on our first morning 'very early' we was woken up by what sounded like a plane coming in to land above our heads and my first thought was'bloody hell, we are staying under a flight path and we have 2 weeks of hell'. I got up and looked out (we stayed on Hiona) and saw a bloody big Lanes Lines boat dropping it's anchor 50m or so away from the terrace. Since then we celebrate every arrival of the Lane Lines boat, when it's lit up in the evening we even go down to the harbour and have a closer look to see who and what comes on and gets off.
Sad but true.
;D

Hi everyone, yeah I'm with everyone else in loving all the boats that come in - when a flash yacht is spotted I always imagine that George Clooney is going to get off it and sweep me off my feet! Well I can dream!

I have so many pic's of the Lane Line Ferry's taken from every angle possible day and night.
Must admit the most frightening ones were taken when we stayed at Direct Greece Hiona wow it did come close,
I never loose my fascination with this enormous roll on roll off ferry and the speed it unloads, loads back up and is but a speck in the distance in such a short time

As a lanubber i to am fascinated by boats in halki, how do those big ferries especially lane Lines enter -unload and leave so quickly in such a small space. As for luxury, one of the greek fishing boats would do me!! We will be there for a month soon and might like a little boat trip now and then!

Daisy - Hiona is one of my favourite accommodations on Halki! I remember staying there one year watching the Lane Lines ferry reversing into the harbour, hitting the jetty quite hard and making a quick getaway (well, as quick as he could in a ferry that size!)
