Hi Liz. We recorded it so we are going to watch it tonight. Have you seen any of the others? He was in the Cyclades last week, and the Peloponnese the week before. Ah....memories

I had mentioned this programme and the places to he was visiting in a post a few days back when we were discussing other islands so we were glued to set (shame we'd missed the earlier episodes though).
I noticed in Waterstones the very nice coffee table book of the same series.
The sight of Leros again brought back very happy memories of a good holiday we had there, we actually hired a car from the one handed mechanic he spoke to in Italian, enough said. We happened to be on the island at the same time of the 60th Anniversary of the Battle of Leros with British, German and Italian veterans present and that was a very interesting experience. That 1930's architecture at Lakki is fascinating but it was falling apart about 5 years ago. We stayed at Pandelli with Laskarina and the best and cheapest way to get around, other than walking was by taxi, cracking service.
Having also been to Spinalonga on our very first Greek Holiday when we visited Crete and this brought back memories as did Victoria Hislop's book we both read last year re the Spinalonga community. As regards Knossos, our enduring memory is getting the last free parking place in tumble dryer heat !

It was because of your post R&J that I remembered to watch it I missed the earlier episodes so I'm hoping there'll be a repeat . I read Victoria Hislops book year before last and I've promised it to myself again when we go to Halki ( I can't get it too soon or I'll read it before I get there )
