I've been twice and it is a lovely green island with lots of pine trees. I wrote a post about it on my blog some years back which will hopefully give you a taste of the island. As written in my post I would recommend visiting the old chapel at Agii Anargiroi which is a very peaceful spot with sea views. Also check out the old village above Patitiri (Hora) which has several tavernas and the option of taking a longer walk to the summit of Kalovoulos mountain via a fairly gentle upward path through pine trees. Day trips to Skopelos (the Mamma Mia location island) and the much busier Skiathos (one for plane spotters with jets coming in low over the road by the airport) are also easy options.
