Monastery bus

I've read somewhere that there is a minibus that visits the monastery.  Does this still exist?  If so, can anyone give me details? Would it be running in Sept? Where does one catch it, where does one pay, what's the timetable, how long is the visit at the monastery, etc?  Many thanks in anticipation.

Hi Alfred I don't think it runs anymore .. I think your only option is to take a taxi up there .. BUT we are leaving today for Halki .. If I see/ hear anything different I will let you know

Bus hasn't run for several years. When it did, it was at 18.30 from the harbourside on Sunday with an almost immediate return, giving you about 20 minutes at the monastery. So no good for sunset or anything other than the most cursory look around. Going back 15 years or so, it was possible to get up there on the bus mid morning one weekday as Norman and I walked back from there with a pit stop at Pondamos for a couple of rounds of Amstels - the first didn't touch the side going down! There is an album on my Flickr feed of the shots I took on that walk. Some spectacular views to be had.

There’s a taxi and a taxi bus and whilst I’ve not. Seen anything advertised I have heard people say they’ve been up to the monastery

Run up to the monastery leaves the harbour at 6.30 on Friday evenings. The old Fedon mini bus was being used along side the taxi bus (actually an electric vehicle), so perhaps 20 plus went up the Friday before last. Time at the monastery also seems to have been extended as I think the vehicles got back to the harbour about 8pm.

The Fedon mini bus was doing some runs but I'm not sure as to whether it was using a time table as I never saw anything posted anywhere after it started to appear again after 9th July. The bigger mini bus is no longer on the island.
