Well we made it, BA from Heathrow on Saturday morning, flight was busier than expected but I didnβt have anyone next to me which was good. All security at Heathrow was thorough and papers were checked and checked again but in total including check in it took between 10-15 minutes. As expected the airport wasnβt anywhere near as busy as normal and all seating in the terminal was safely spaced out, shops were open as normal and everywhere was sparkling clean. When we arrived at Rhodes the plane was unloaded 10 rows at a time, everyone obeyed the rules and actually it was a much more pleasant way to disembark without the rugby scrum it usually turns into. Our flight was the only one to land at that time so again everyone kept 2 metres apart and we were through passport control in no time, we then had to go through another checkpoint where our vaccination letters were checked thoroughly, our luggage was already on the carousel and we were through out into the glorious Greek sunshine to our our friend who was waiting with his car to get us to Kamiros Scala. More tomorrow but I would just say to anyone who is hesitating about coming, apart from sorting out the return testing kits and getting vaccination letters from the NHS, we live in Wales and at the moment the app doesnβt work for us, it was far easier to organise than we expected and Halki needs visitors, we have been welcomed with open arms everywhere so if you are able to isolate when you get home and can get a flight, go for it π¬π·βοΈ

Would you mind posting how the video call process goes? It's the one thing that's been a worry for Rose π₯Ί

Tom , you can know book a test on Halki and 'they' transport it to the clinic on Rhodes and you receive your result by email .. not sure of the cost yet .. much more convenient

Rose mentioned it this evening. It's good to know there are other options available, choice is good

The first people had the test here on Tuesday which seems a much better option than Qured but as we already have our test kit we will probably use it. You do the test in front of a clinician on video, then take a photo of the result together with your passport and email it to Qured. They will reply in 30 mins. There is a video of the test on their web site showing you more information. Please feel free to ask anything else you need to know, tell Rose it will all be fine, things are changing rapidly at the moment and there is really nothing to worry about especially as you can officially be tested here now.

Hi Carol, sooo jealous. Did you have to have a PCR test before leaving the UK?

Answering for Carol here but at the moment if you have had both jabs and your 2nd was more than 14 day before you travel then the entry requirement for Greece means you don't have to have a test .. so if you are not double jabbed then yes you need. test

Yes exactly as Liz said, proof of vaccination is all you need so if you are in England you can use the NHS App but if you are in Wales like us you have to apply for a letter from NHS Wales which details when and where you had your jabs, it took almost a week to arrive and was thoroughly checked at Heathrow and Rhodes airport.

Our revised Bristol booking got cancelled this afternoon with a alternate flight offer from Gatwick which gets into Rhodes late pm, so will loose a night on Halki. Will be ringing Nissia first thing to sort out new transfers and somewhere to stay that night. Boss shouldn't have bought the suntan lotions etc today.
Glad the paperwork is working OK. Got my Covid jabs cert on my new phone - finally retired my Nokia Classic for an I-Phone 11 to make travel easier (flight cancellations not withstanding...)

Steve, greetings from Saltford - good to know you and others are managing to get to Halki. After two attempts with EZJ from Bristol (flight in late May re-arranged from last year was later cancelled, as seems to have happened to you) Christine and I have given up for the time being, but hope to try again before too long.

Had really hoped we'd left Gatwick in the rear view mirror once EZJ started its service to Rhodes (right day, good arrival time etc) but here we are, once again, facing the delights of the M4/M3/M25 at peak time. At least it'll be low traffic return as it'll be gone 9pm before we hit the M25. May be 2022 we'll both get to use our local airport. Expect early July will be warm and sunny in the Avon Valley.....
