Good afternoon lovely people. Been a couple of years since we were last on the island and we hope to return before too long! We have a friend who is staying (with Nissia) in early September and is crazy about sea fishing, does Kinygos/Simon still stay with his boat around that time at all please? Many thanks, Andy

Last year he was there though it was not a successful fishing season. Each year will be as Simon decides.

Hello there. I am still alive! I just got "fed up" to use a polite term with Photobucket's actions on hosting. They effectively trashed my work on the coastline of Halki. Then they brought it back. Then they trashed it again! In fact they trashed all my photographic efforts.
September is the fishing season and I can take people out. Just one at a time, and preferably people who know what they are doing. It's not commercial, guests just buy the beers for the crew when we get back. It is important that guests know how to handle themselves and the tackle. I will go through that before we depart. I like to return with the same number of people I started out with and in the same uninjured condition.
It is recreational Sportfishing which means blue water trolling for pelagic species mainly with the odd Amberjack, or Barracuda thrown in for good measure. This means we are moving pulling lures behind the boat. We slow when we get a fish, and then we are off again. We do not drift or anchor up. We will return small fish, but keep all the sizable ones. When we have enough for our needs we stop fishing and return. This could be in as little time as ten minutes! It could be two and a half hours. One Mediterranean Marlin, or other large fish, and we stop. We are not on a killing spree. Weather permitting we do circumnavigate the island, but this is not always possible. I must stress that this is not like roach fishing on the Wensum, or sleeping on a bed while carp fishing!
Afterwards we drink beer and discuss the session.
In the evening we meet up to drink beer and then go to a restaurant to eat the catch. Some of the catch, and generous tips, go to the restaurant. I used to show pictures here but...
Last year, due mostly to my people who maintain my boat working at the last minute, I had a series of problems with no time to sort them out and had to abandon in mid season just when things were looking up. I will be doing my best not to let this happen again.

At the risk of stating the obvious the chances of fishing happening this year are VERY slim!
