It is with great sadness that we learnt yesterday of the passing of Nigel Cairns or Big Nige as he was affectionately known. Nigel was a stalwart of this board from the very early days, sometimes controversial but always entertaining, many of us felt we knew him although we never actually met him, Nigel returned to Halki in June this year after a gap of many years, sadly it was to be his last visit. R.I.P Nigel, you will not be forgotten.

Thanks Carol .. I felt I *knew* Nigel and when I look back its over 14 years we'd been communicating , He was always pleasant, funny, sometimes controversial, but always a true gentleman a lovely man and I for one will miss our chats and banter, I hope you've found your peace Nige ... you'll be truly missed xxx

Sad news re Bob .. I only met him a couple of times but he was such a well respected and loved man .. A very knowledgeable, helpful, kind man who I'm sure will be missed by many

For those of you who are not on Facebook, the very sad news reached us yesterday of the passing of Petros who ran the grocery shop on the harbour, he was a lovely man who became friends with many of us over the years, he will be sadly missed R.I.P Petros.
