We spent a night this week at the newly re-opened Halki Hotel, now named the Aretanassa (Named after queen of Halki I think). Yannis, Barbara and the team are all very welcoming and helpful. Yannis told us they had only recently taken over, but certainly had all well organised and we wish them well.
The rooms (and the breakfast) are lovely and the view from there across the harbour/town is second to none.
If anyone is thinking of a taster on Halki from Rhodes then the Dodekanesos ferry from Rhodes goes on a Tuesday and a Thursday, so a short or slightly longer visit at the hotel is really easy. Of course there are other Ferries from Kamira Skala every day, plus the 'big' ferry, the Prevalis. (We are actually just adding a day to our normal 2 week stay in a Halki house)
Good Luck Yannis and your team. See you next year.

We went over there in May , they weren't quite ready for visitors but it all looks very promising - Its a beautiful spot and it will be great to see the hotel back up and running:)

It's named after the lady who runs the supermarket nearest the church. Her family (the Chimenetos), who also own the minibus and the Fedon boat, took it over this spring. Fingers crossed it can become a success at last!

And the lady who runs the supermarket (Areti) is named after the ancient queen of Halki (more specifically the ancient and once highly populated area of Areta). An old Halki name as indeed is Xeimenetos.
