Hi everyone, I've just joined, having been reading some threads on here earlier - and, as a result, booking a week at Tsandou (upper) in early October! It's lovely to see so much enthusiastic chat about such a special place. I've not been to Halki since 2003 as my husband died in 2005 and I didn't think I could ever bear to return to a place in which we spent so many happy times. However, never say never and now I can't wait to return. Bringing my sister along for her first visit. I may have a good old blub as the Nikos Express nears the harbour but it will be wonderful to be back.

This forum has been very quiet for a while, so it's good to see your posting, fayfran. Am currently working out possible options for a June visit, but have been in late Sept/early October previously and I think it's a good time of year to visit - getting cooler at night but still very pleasant during the day, though some risk of occasional autumnal weather. Hope you and your sister have a lovely time, after an understandable gap; nobody will mind if you have a blub on the ferry!
On a completely different topic which I suppose I should post in the transfers section, does anyone reading this know why the normal (previously as far as I know subsidiesed "scheduled" ferry timed at 0700 from Halki to KS and back from KS at 1430 on Mondays, Tues, Thurs and Fridays) is not being shown in the Greek Travel Pages as a currently scheduled service? I've been trying to check whether there is currently any scheduled service on Sasturdays in June but not according to what's published in gtp.

The usual operator is the Fedon and it's been leaving at 6am from Halki for KS (I've even been up and photographed it heading out into the (just) rising sun!). IRRC they don't publish their schedule til late April when they get back to Halki from their over winter base.

Welcome to the board Fayfran, I hope you and your Sister have a wonderful holiday, a few things have changed since your last visit but basically Halki is still the same lovely island it always was and going late Sept/Oct it should be quite peaceful and relaxing. If there is anything you need to know please ask Muriman, Stevec is correct, it is much too soon to be looking at local ferry times, they will only start publishing them nearer to the start of the season, no point in speculating. Could I ask that any further comments about transfers be put on the appropriate section so as not to detract from Fayfrans original post, thank you.

Last I heard, they were waiting for their timetable to receive approval before publishing.
