Halki is a very safe island with virtually no crime, you are unlikely to have a safe in your accommodation and even more unlikely to find one to rent. We and many others have been visiting for many years and have never experienced any problems with leaving money in our accommodation.

Hi Symi, welcome to the forum! Totally second what Carol has said to you, we travel all over the world regularly and often use in room safes but strangely on Halki it's never really crossed our minds, it really is 'as safe as safe can be' on the island if you'll pardon the pun! Any other questions please do ask, Andy

We've never used a safe since we got all our passports locked in the safe in Cuba ! .. Just be generally carefully as you would at home .. Don't leave money lying about .. Tuck it away somewhere .. But as others have said .. Don't worry .. As in most places in Greece ., it's all good 😜

We have been going to various Greek islands since the 80's and have always found the people very honest, even in the Supermarkets they say pay tomorrow if you haven't got quite enough cash with you. That would never happen in the UK now would it? Less than two weeks before we set off for our first three week visit. Will I be ready to come home after two weeks - we shall see!
