I stand corrected. Must be my memory playing tricks!

I remember seeing them when Alex fell over near Apostolis bar and thought it was our previous visit. It must have been October last year when we were there for our wedding.

Nick is still very much in charge of the taverna kitchen but his sons, Glendousis & Aghis, do the table & chatting duties. No 1 son Stelios works at the town hall but helps out at weekends when busy.

pda, thanks for the info about Nick (Pondamos) and his sons! Im looking forward to seeing so many people, including Nick and Yannis.
It was interesting reading about the changes at the hotel, I thought it looked smarter than I remembered! Im trying to remember what it was first built for, some kind of international youth group or something? I dont think thats right, maybe someone out there can remind me!

I don't propose to bandy Alex and Christine Saklarides situation around on this site for obvious reasons but suffice it to say that we have stayed with them for 11 of the 12 years that we have been coming to Halki.

For those who love them as much as we do the news was not good in that my understanding was that Rhodes logistically was not an ideal provider of the medical support that Alex required which is why they stayed in Athens. Of course we elicited up-to-date info from those who knew and when we left Halki in July the news was upbeat.

We do so hope that next year they are able to return to their beloved Captains House and more particularly to the island that is in Alex's soul Thankyou for the info Sth that they were seen on Halki in October. That is great news!

I must say that it was most odd walking back along the waterfront to Kleanthe instead of through the church and up to the Captain's House. How habit forming these Greek Islands are!!
