Dropped into Marine Traffic for a quick shufty. Picking up a loop in and out of Tilos. Earlier in week did a run to and from KS (Monday I think) and yesterday pm Halki/Tilos return. Today 2 round trips to KS today. Sea conditions look good as both Fedon and Nissos H took the western route past Makri. Any advance on the timetable? Wouldn't mind a day trip to Tilos - haven't been there since 02 and an alternative to Dodec Exp always worth considering.
7 weeks and counting...

The Fedon only does day trips out of season to my knowledge so it could only be the Dodecanese express when you are there Steve.

Fedon's bit of a ringer. She's not island based, so not tied to same routines as NH or NE who are there 52 weeks a year supporting the community. The time table, as we have it, is out of date,
Last year she was supposed to have looped in and out of Alimnia, according to the published time table, but never saw any evidence from her satellite tracking data that she ever did (no demand?). So I was wondering if this year's she's doing something different to being the prime carrier of the day trippers.

Not island based? The man who conceived the idea might take exception to that.

They were extremely reliable last year Steve and I think you will find that they are very much island based, it is still very early in the season and I for one look forward to travelling with them in late August.

If you read my post re her not being island based, I was comparing Fedon to the NH & NE who are there 52 weeks of the year. Fedon over wintered in the Peloponnese and was there only a little short of 6 months. So, for me she's not island based.
Nor was I was I making any comment on reliability. I was wondering if Fedon was trying some new routes for this year, noting that the connection loop in and out of Alimnia time tabled last year wasn't (on the evidence I saw via Marine Traffic) very popular.

Now come on chaps, play nicely, no fighting! It is strange how an innocent remark on this board can raise hackles. When the Fedon started I reviewed her. and I stick with what I said. For sure she is not a permanent fixture like the other two, but she is fast and clean. I just get on whatever ferry is handy when I get there. That goes for either direction!

I struggled to get access to make my last post and forgot to add this:
I believe the explanation of the cessation of the Alimnia trips was the usual one; they fell foul of the status of the island as a military base. The correct authorisation was not given. I might add that the landing stage was a H & S nightmare. Frau Chalkibert came to grief on the old pontoon at Ftenagia, and that was a paragon of safety compared with the one cobbled together on Alimnia. As I recall pallets had something to do with it. The walk was bouncy and you felt that the wood could break at any moment. (In some places it had!)
Alimnia is once more the domain of the privateer, and peace reigns!

Hello everyone, I am new here and I want to introduce myself as the owner of Fedon boat... my name is Ariadne... I read some of your comments and I want to give you my answers... Since it is still early in season and some of the tour operators in Rhodes hasn't started yet, we cannot fix our timetable ... so for some days we still have a question... As far as Tilos is concerned, the authorities of Sea Star hired us to do Wednesday trips to and from Tilos. All the routes are gone through Halki... For these trips we get informed 2-3 days earlier so we cannot add the specific route to our schedule.. We don't know how long this will last. Someone said something about Alimia... It is true that last year we made some trips to Alimia..(we have been hired by a tour operator to do so). Our staying there was only for few minutes just to leave the tourists...When they stopped the excursion we stopped to do the specific trip. Also, Steve we are an island based boat... but for winter there is no job for all of us... Do you know how is Halki during Winter? Only 200 people and on holidays not even 100. The other boats get money from the government that's why they stay in Halki 52 weeks... Just with our presence I think we contributed to the community.... Soon you will find our timetable for June on facebook... Thank you

Hello Ariadne, what time do you depart from Tilos on Wednesdays and what time do you arrive in Kameria Skala? Some people never learn! I have twice left Halki on a Sunday afternoon for Kamiros Skala. Each time I got on the ferry that arrived last! Sunday 25/05/14 the Nikos Express and the Nissos Halki were leaving at 16:00. I knew this from the boards on the boats. I got on the Nikos Express which left at 16:20 after the Nissos Halki had gone. Sunday 01/06/14 the Nikos Express and the Nissos Halki were leaving at 16:00, and the Fedon was leaving at 17:00. I knew this from the boards on the boats. I got on the Nissos Halki. The Nikos Express left at 15:45. I lay down for a snooze. The Nissos Halki left at 16:00. As we approached Kamiros Skala I saw the Fedon coming back. I assume it left around 16:00 too! It really doesn't matter to me as long as I get there! This is not a Northern European country, this is Greece! Relax. If you expect a timetable such as we know it you will be disappointed! Remember Schrödinger's cat!
