Where are you staying and has it got heating and an immersion heater for the water. Despite the lovely surroundings, I can think of nothing worse than having to have a cold shower in a cold house if it's cold outside -

A Winter in Halki is only tolerable if a/ you are fortunate enough to have your own home b/ you have access to accom., owned by someone else who has it arranged as a home or c/ you are lucky in renting/borrowing one of the few (very few) rental units which are "set up" as homes. The summer rental villa/apartment is simply unsuitable, in the main, as a winter house.

Hey PDA, I am extremely jealous though must admit that we are hoping to have a week somewhere hot around February. I can't wait to heat all about it. You have me seriously thinking about it now. Presume that you are going on the big ferry from Athens? Thanks for letting us know about Francis' house Senga.

PDA - where are you flying from - I'm guessing London somewhere to Gatwick, is it easy to connect with the ferry?

Lisa - thought Gatwick was in London Going Stanstead-Athens-Rhodes with Aegean. Ruled out the big ferry from Athens as didn't know if timetable would change with Lane Lines packing in. Will stay a couple of days in Rhodes &, subject to weather, catch either big ferry or KS ferry. Did check with the insurance co though to make sure they paid up if missed flights back due to weather conditions.
