Due to family commitments we have been unable to visit Halki for the last 2 years. The last time we visited after 14 consecutive years the day trippers from Rhodes finally forced us off the beach at Pondamos and we went over to Ftenagia. My wife is not a confident swimmer and preferred the sandy shallows of Pondamos. We know Nick and Angelo well though and they were fine hosts as always.
In our absence it seems that the beach at Kania has been developed and upon our return in July this year we had hoped to find some shallows and gentle waters there for my wife! The arrival of the taverna and the daily bus is an added bonus. We are now OAP's and require these comforts.
Somewhat alerted though by Lisa's comment re boatload at Kania on Saturday 8 Jun!! Methinks it's not a big beach and is this a daily occurence or just weekends? Is this a boatload from Emborios or Rhodes?
Halki is becoming popular. I recall, many moons ago, that the Halki regulars were almost suicidal regarding tourism articles describing Halki. The surmise was that their closely guarded secret was finally 'out' The inevitable consequences of progress and the paramount requirement for the Halki locals to make a living!!
I have rambled somewhat and I apologise for that but there was a question in here somewhere.

Hi all. Just to follow J90's post. How developed is Kania beach? Also, the Daytrippers that frequent Halki; what beaches do they frequent? Is this a particular day of the week or all week?
It's been a few years since our last visit to Halki and we are going for our 4th trip in July. Really looking forward to it but its clear that the times they are a changing! Many thanks in advance.

Ha yes you probably have .. Contrary to popular belief there are young people on Halki who like to party ! . I do believe my eldest has been there !
Have you looked at the Halki visitor FB page ? There are day time pictures on there .. Peace ... Quiet .. And serenity rules ! It's a lovely beach , lovely people ..
