Hi there. Thinking about staying over in Rhodes on the Tuesday before our week starts on Halki. Are there any direct flights at all on a Tuesday morning or afternoon from the UK? I've had a search and nothing is coming up other than a late night flight. Just thought I would ask before abandoning the idea. Thanks, Simon

Wednesday has always been the main arrivals day from the UK on Rhodes, with some flight on a Saturday, so no there isn't I am afraid.

Easy Jet from Gatwick Wednesday flights (on the basis of being on time) would not involve overnight stay on Rhodes. EJ also fly from LGW Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday but the outward and return timings would individually or collectively involve a stopover.

I am now getting a bit puzzled by this thread! Perhaps we can get back to basics. Why do you want to fly on Tuesday? Most people would do anything rather than stay in Rhodes!(I shall use Rhodes for the island and Rodos for the town) I have a house there so I feel differently. The question is, do you want to just be sure not to miss the ferry, or do you want to look around Rodos? To see anthing of Rhodes you will need more than a day. For the Old Town in Rodos half a day is more than enough (In my opinion) A trip to Ancient Kamiros is less than rewarding, unless you take a guided tour because the literature is somewhat scant. If that is your aim, be aware that Ancient Kamiros is nowhere near Kamiros Skala! The north-west coast of Rhodes is the windy side. People often say Rhodes is too hot. This is the East coast including Lindos which is sheltered from the wind, but if the wind drops Ancient Kamiros can be a bit hot too. There is also that castle, near Kritina, which you see from the ferry about 15 minutes from leaving Kamiros Skala. It is not really walking distance from Kamiros Skala. With no car, all this will be impractical using a taxi!
Anyhow, you should be able to get a direct flight from Stansted to Diagoras on a Tuesday leaving at 07:00ish. Check Ryanair.
Welcome to the board Simon. Excellent name by the way!

Hi there. Thanks for the welcome although I have been a part time member for some years but for some reason couldn't get on to the new site so had to re-join as a new member.
This summer will be our 4th holiday to Halki. It always seems a shame when going for only 7 nights that longer can't be spent on the island on the first day. I thought it would be a great idea to stay Tuesday night in Rhodes and catch a morning ferry to Halki. I have read a morning service does run. We did the old town in Rhodes the first time we went, in the middle of a two centre with Symi. No need to do it a second time I feel! We would be happy to stay in a reasonably priced hotel near Kamiros Scala for the night without doing anything else on Rhodes.
Anyway, it was just a thought. Thank you to everyone for their replies.

Having visited many times from deepest Scotland, I've found it's possible to fly in/out of Rhodes any day you like! We tend to fly from Edinburgh now via Athens. In fact we always choose not to fly in and out on Wild Wednesday and find the lack of chaos very nice. Cheaper direct flights from south of England (or Glasgow?)I don't know about. We've not been lucky enough to get an early ferry to Halki, but maybe the Fedon does now.

The Fedon does an early trip each day now. Maybe 9am? Will be on the board somewhere. We are staying over in Rhodes Thursday evening in May and on a Saturday evening in September. Currently usee Easyjet from Gatwick at the moment though may look at Bournemouth next year. We live in Devon.
