Looks like EMA starts on June 1st Can't confirm that on the website but if you put in an earlier date it just says that flight's full. Anyone know how you can check what dates the flights operate?

Ryanair have got flights to Rhodes from Bournemouth - and getting to Rhodes just after 13.00 so plenty of time to catch the ferry. We usually fly Monarch from Gatwick but Bournemouth is far more convenient, prices are around the same. Have never flown with Ryanair so information please.

I first flew Ryanair in April 2012 with some trepidation after the wise words of sth. The bottom line is that they are convenient for me Stansted – Diagoras direct. At this point it is worth mentioning the pre and post flight travelling the costs and time penalties of which have to be factored into the overall experience. Also a whole lot of necessary extras were added to the “Total Fare”. This appears in one of the many Ryanair threads“I booked a Ryanair flight to get back on the 8th of May. This is the breakdown of costs: £32.74 Total Fare......................................(1) £00.00 Taxes, Fees & Charges.....................(2) £02.00 Passenger Fee: EU 261 Levy.............(3) £00.25 Passenger Fee: ETS........................(4) £06:00 Passenger Fee: Web Check-in...........(5) £05.00 Passenger Fee: Priority Boarding........(6) £06.00 Passenger Fee: Administration Fee.....(7) £06.90 Insurance......................................(8) £58.89 Total Paid......................................(9)
I comment thus: (1) "Total fare", I don't think so! (2,3,4,5.7) should surely be included in (1) They are part of the fare since they are unavoidable? (6) Well worth it in my opinion. NB no hold luggage either! (8) another optional extra
(9) All things considered ridiculously cheap, despite the suffering to my dodgy back.” This year for a flight 14th May “PAYMENT DETAILS 80.99 GBP Total Fare………………………(1) 34.17 GBP Taxes, Fees & Charges………….(2) 2.50 GBP Passenger Fee: EU 261 Levy……..(3) 7.00 GBP Passenger Fee: Web Check in…….(4) 0.25 GBP Passenger Fee: ETS……………….(5) 7.00 GBP Passenger Fee: Administration Fee…(6) 30.00 GBP Passenger Fee: Checked Bag(s)…..(7) 7.00 GBP Passenger Fee: Priority Boarding….(8) 50.00 GBP Passenger Fee: Sports & Music Equipment…(9) 4.38 GBP Passenger Fee: Credit Card Fee….(10) 223.29 GBP Total Paid……….(11)” As you will see I have two items of luggage this time which adds considerably to the costs! My comments on the 2012 flight still stand otherwise. The online booking is the usual game of avoiding buying things that you don’t want. I do not know how far you looked into the "Total Fare" The seats are still going to be non-reclining and I shall disembark like Quasimodo. Without wishing to appear elitist Ryanair attracts those for whom cheapness is the major concern, so priority boarding at Stansted is an advantage inasmuch as not many do it. The regulations are strictly applied and some passengers appear to have difficulty understanding this. On my last flight a husband got left behind (don’t ask!). You do get a higher number of the ****** members of society on these flights. Before I did it the first time I worried about the things I heard, but IF YOU STICK TO THE RULES e.g. luggage weight and hand luggage size it’s not so bad. DO NOT BE A GRAMME OR MILLIMETRE OVER THE STATED PARAMETERS, AND DON'T BE LATE AT THE GATE!My return flight is in November and therefore has to be Aegean via Athens landing at Heathrow and this more than doubles my travelling time. Things like that are important to me!

just back from Halki, one week with plenty of sunshine ! RyanAir is ok when you travel only with hand-luggage, enough for a short visit. If you have additional luggage, liquids ect. you have to pay more for a checked bag. Then better compare the total price with other companies. The seats are not to move. But ok for a 3 hour flight. Most not all seats are occupied, so you have enough space. Had a flight for 19 Euro ! and after arrival enough time to catch the ferry. Can`t expect any extra service for such prices. The flight was exact on time! Next trip in June, can`t wait, but then flying with Tuifly and more extra luggage. Maria

We've used Ryanair a few times for Irish trips but the 'extras' as listed by Simon never cease to amaze us. Always been clean and on time though. May have to look at Bournemouth for next year and then do the maths.

This pulls together a couple of threads elsewhere. On 14/05/13 I took a Ryanair flight from Stansted to Rodos. I had booked in hold luggage 20Kg and Sporting equipment to 20Kg, plus hand luggage. Let us lay aside the advisability of doing this with Ryanair. My “luggage” was the boxed Fighting Chair in the original (reconstructed) cardboard box 65 X 65 X 55 (<19Kg), and a KISS rodcase 2m long (<10Kg - the sporting equipment). THERE IS NO WAY OF FINDING OUT IF THIS IS ACCEPTABLE BEFORE THE BAGGAGE DROP. Accordingly I printed out the Ryanair baggage restrictions so I could quote them if there was a problem. Theoretically I had a weight limit of 40Kg, but the rodcase is a bit limiting regarding the inclusion of extra material. I could not add an extra case with the “missing” 10Kg, under the regulations. Ryanair state that they do not really want “out of gauge” luggage as this limits a speedy turnaround. The box with the chair did not fit into the weighing device, so my quoted weight was taken on trust. Everything went smoothly with both items accepted on the “out of gauge” baggage drop. I cannot say how this would be in peak season. It was expensive, but necessary for my needs.
On arrival the taxi took a circuitous route to Pastida. The route I take is a maximum of 15mins. I was charged €20. A visitor with “normal luggage” was charged €14 for the same trip the next day (route undisclosed). I understand that large luggage attracts a higher fee.
Feel free to draw your own conclusions. For my part I was pleasantly surprised with Ryanair, less so with the taxi. A slightly shorter trip (if the Rodos one had been direct) in Norwich was £7.
