I am trying to continue the round the island series, but Photobucket seems to be picking and choosing which pictures to show.
Is there an alternative?

Dear Simon
After some initial stumbling around, entirely self induced, and help from Liz, I have used Flickr to post photos on here.

Check, check, check, Liz has posted about Photobucket problems elsewhere. Sure, James, I know about that Photobucket Beta, but I am not using that. I am using the one that used to work, but it just keeps leaving out some of the pictures. Mostly the maps, but not always. So I am going to stop, until I can bypass the problem.

Apols Simon, I obviously misread your originating post. Good call about temporary NFA, but many thanks for posting this series of photos. A 'round island trip by sea' is still on our agenda.

Hi Jamesthebutler, make sure you choose a VERY calm day for the round the island trip, did it once many years ago when the local ferries occasionally did day trips, never seen so many people being ill !!! It is still on the agenda for me to go with Simon when we get a flattish sea, maybe next year

Hi Jamesthebutler, make sure you choose a VERY calm day for the round the island trip, did it once many years ago when the local ferries occasionally did day trips, never seen so many people being ill !!! It is still on the agenda for me to go with Simon when we get a flattish sea, maybe next year We made many trips round this year, hence the plethora of photos. We did it Clockwise which, I think, is unusual. There are bits of sea which are almost always disturbed. On the map: Koutsoumbas, and the west end from Cape Mirtos to Kefali. The first one is a mild experience, the second can be traumatic! It is here that we found some good tuna last year, but not this year. The first couple of times it was a bit lumpy and we had to slow for a couple of fish which made it "interesting"! By way of contrast we had about three trips on a calm to Glassy sea. You can see this on "The one(s) that got away". We will always go round the island if the conditions are right, so if you are there and I am there... no problem, provided you are prepared to troll at 7Knots! The only problem is that we decide on the day. This is a message for anyone interested in doing the trip!

OK now, thanks to my son I know what the problem is, and it may provide the solution to the Photobucket Beta thing, or perhaps that is insoluble. The boy genius looked at the HTML code for the proboard page and it turned out that there was a space inserted in the picture codes. This does not show up in the editing mode. (that's the thing I'm looking at now as I write this) So whence came the space? It turns out that Proboards cannot handle long strings for picture codes and breaks the string. The space prevents the picture being referenced. It does it in a sneaky way so you cannot see it without being a tech nerd! This explains why some of my pictures disappeared. Also when I got them back when I moved them to a higher directory (album) in Photobucket. The string was shortened and Proboards did not insert the space. This string is generated by adding the name of the directories, and sub directories to the picture name. I went back to my pictures and shortened the name, erased the entry in Photobucket, and uploaded under the new name. I then copied the new reference and modified the posting on HV. Up came the pictures! So I wonder if the Photobucket Beta is generating strings to long for Proboards to handle? If so the fault is with Proboards and not Photobucket. Before I found all this out I started a Flickr account and picture/videos there do not seem to have an code. Can anyone tell me where to find it please? It might be useful to have flickr as an alternative particularl as they seem to be able to handle widescreen video and Photobucket cannot. Photobucket distorts the screen to the old fashioned aspect ratio. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Simon on Flikr above your picture is a box that says 'share' click that and the option to 'grab the code' is there....in that box there is another clickable box that says get the HTML code or BB code ...you want the BB code and that will give you the image.
