Although we had an excellent season sometimes they got away; that’s sportfishing! We had lines pulled from the clips, but no fish. I suspect small fish! Sometimes it was totally, or partially my fault. Broken lines, for which there is no excuse. I should remove 20 metres of line off the reel after each trip and re-tie the double line. UV and the elastic bands take a toll on the line. Lost at the boat; I spectacularly failed to gaff a big Dorado for Bim due to me being a klutz. It threw the hook, which proved that it could not have been swung on board on the leader. We also had the hooks thrown by Dorados which were unavoidable. I was taking pictures from the helm of the island when Bim yelled “Fish on!” The Dorado lived up to its Polynesian name of Mahi-mahi (Athlete) jumping all over the place finally throwing the hook and waving goodbye with its tail. I took a number of shots and actually caught it in mid leap! Fish on!JumpingClose-up of the detailStill on!Not anymore, bye-bye!
