We have had a German exchange student staying with this past week who spends her summer holidays on this very small island right off the end of the Pelion penninsula. From the photos she has shown us it looks wonderful. Just wondered if anyone has ever been to either the island or this part of Greece and what ou thought of it!

Hi Jennifer Looked at this island when Tapestry Holidays were still in business.
It looked absolutely wonderful very traditional and unspoilt.
We decided in the end to stay on the Pelion though and went to a tiny village called Horto only 3 to 4 tavernas and no bars a very small mini market with a long walk or taxi ride in to the bigger village whose name escapes me at the moment but was something like Millia where there was a bustling waterfront and several mini markets.
I quite liked it but hubby found it too quiet and the trek to get provisions as we were self catering was a real pain.
Ended up walking early in the morning over a hours walk and taxi back.
Weather when we went early Sept was a bit hit and miss and definitely not as hot as Halki or as consistent.
Glad we went and would certainly say to anyone give it a go but would not return personally.

Thanks for the info ... must admit I came to a similar sort of conclusion re the remoteness myself! Might give it a go though as you can fly to Volos on a Friday from Gatwick which makes it easier with school half-term holidays etc. DD has been invited to go and stay during the summer with her new German friend whose grandparents actually live full time on the island so I imagine DD would have a lot of fun!
