Just heard from friends travelling to Halki today that Jet2 flight from East Midlands is delayed, should have departed at 9am but due to problems with the plane it hasn't left yet Fingers and everything else crossed that they leave soon.

Makes our hour and a half delay on same flight 20th June seem quite short. A door which had not been opened all the time the plane was sitting on the tarmac (most likely all night) did not register as being shut as we pulled off the stand and we had to wait for a 'technician'. Also too many passengers on the plane, crew counted several times before they realised one person was on wrong plane altogether. No explanations given until we asked, no drink of water, they really couldn't have cared less. Apparently quite common with this flight - although of course we didn't know that before we booked. Wrote to customer service on our return and since to MD but needless to say all we have had is an acknowledgement saying they would respond fully in 35 days - it's now 43 days!

Jet2 are really the pits. We only use them because they fly from Leed/Bradford which close to home. If Easyjet or even Rynair flew from here we wouldn't consider Jet2. Their fleet is old - average age of aircraft 22.2 years ! This from a website that lists age of airfleets. See www.airfleets.net. We have expereinnced dreadful dealys - 12 hours from Charles De Gaulle, 8 hours from LBA . A delay of 2-3 hours is not unusual. Obviously the aircraft are safe to fly in (once the glitches have been sorted) But they do need to update their fleet. Writing to complain produces the usual bland response from "customer services".

Sorry to hear others have had bad experiences with Jet2. We have travelled with them from East Midlands for several years now and have always had good flights with excellent service. In fact they are our favourite airline! In all the years we've been flying with them we've only had one brief delay and would certainly rate them excellent value for money.

We have only used them once, four years ago, on our way to Halki. We had an emergency landing in Croatia, because of an oil leak from an engine, then had a 6 hour plus wait for a replacement plane. We arrived after midnight, so missed our boat connection, and had to find somewhere to stay. We didn't get so much as an apology from them.
We won't be using them again. ;D

Used them for the first time from East Midlands in June this year. After 4 head counts discovered 1 person too many on the plane, should have been on the plane parked up next to ours - secure checking of boarding cards??!! Flight delay nearly 2 hours because light on exit door was showing it wasn't locked - when it hadn't even been open. No explanation for delay until we asked what was happening and then got told verycurtly 'Have to wait to get permission for 'technician' to fly with us in case it happens again!' Sent complaint letter to cusstomer services, 2 months later they finally answered sorry it has taken so long , customer services are very busy (persumably with the amount of other complaints being received. Know they are cheap but have been put off using them again.
