As per last year, we just had to go and have a cocktail at the hotel, it is so wonderful sitting on the terrace there. We were given free mezza by the waiter Stavros to try & tempt us to have dinner there, so after having a quick check of the menu to make sure we could afford it we liked what was on the menu, we promised to go the next evening (last Monday) We arrived about 8pm and were the only people eating there our on the terrace, or in fact at all, therefore we had the undivided attention of Stavros, our own personal waiter in fact. We felt like millionaires sitting in that wonderful setting with the spectacular views and our own waiter. The food was fantastic, I had calamaria (squid) and RRE had meatballs with rice which had cheese on top. All the food was freshly prepared, piping hot & very delicious. The cost of the mains was about 9€ much the same as any other the other tavernas. Stavros told us that Kalypso the cook had about 35 years experience as a chef, well he did on Sunday evening, by Monday it had gone up to 40 years He called her over and introduced us to her and she looked genuinely pleased that we had enjoyed (and eaten) all the food she had prepared. We were then given sweets on the house. We were given a plate to share with two desert forks, there was two portions of Ravonini cake with syrup, two portions of loukoumades with icing sugar & cinnamon and two portions of sweet preserved watermelon. That evening was one of the highlights of a superb holiday and we will definitely be back there to eat next time we visit Halki.
