I must admit even up to a couple of days before we crossed there was nothing in concrete ! I was texting Carol and Daisy for any sightings of ferries ( but at that time there was one out of action ) But the ferry that leaves Halki at about 8 -8.30 ish does return ( it did last year and they seemed very surprised when we questioned it ) If it were me I'd take a chance on an early one , now there's three and a water taxi .. You've gotta be in with a chance ! And if all else fails ... Take to the retsina !!

Gilhardic, I've just realised your question about buying the ticket has not been answered. On the local ferry from Kamira Skala, you normally pay on the ferry and there's no need to book beforehand. I understand that this year, the port police in Halki have been more strict than in the past about checking numbers of passengers, but this seems unlikely to affect you and your family getting on a "day trip" ferry from KS.
