We've never flown Ryanair before, and I was just pricing up flights for September. What a nightmare At the second attempt I finally located the 'Don't cover me' in the drop down list for insurance cover (cleverly hidden between Latvia and Lithuania as my country of residence). I also managed to sidestep the offer of selling me a suitcase (£52 or £69), texting me confirmation of my reservation (£1.50), car hire and hotel. I finally ended up with a not unreasonable price (compared to the Thomas Cook alternative anyway - still horrific though) but couldn't find out how much they were going to charge me for an admin fee or for using my card. At the moment TC is coming out around £100 more expensive, but that's without Ryanair's admin & card fee.Does anyone know what these extra charges are likely to be? Also, what does priority boarding mean exactly? Do I get on the plane first? What happens if 50 people buy priority boarding? Is there lots of pushing and shoving? On a positive note, I was impressed that reserved seating was only £10 pp each way. Rather better than TC at £30. But don't tell Mr O'Leary or it'll go up

Amanda ,priority boarding is only good if you are at the gate early ,you board first along with whoever else has booked it , so it is a raffle , personally I would pay the tenner to book the seat

Sorry, you asked about priority boarding. 1) Ryanair is a pikey flight. 2) Priority boarding puts you in the elite subset of Pikeys; less tattoos and hoop earrings. 3) It's not a scrum, it's a rolling maul, and in the elite subset of priority boarding you have fewer pikeys to engage with! Takes me back to my youth playing for...

Aw, Don't get me started!!! sth: Why is that then? Do you have an opinion about Ryanair? Do tell! Liz: Carol said, you'll recognise Liz; tramp stamp, and earrings big enough for a dolphin to jump through. Could she have been telling me porkies? Amanda: I found the priority boarding at Stanstead to be quite civilised. Only one of the above should be taken seriously.

Kinygos, you have just added to our education, we now know what a 'Tramp Stamp' is due to the powers of Google .

Amanda, it's quite simple to find out what the admin and other fees are. Just click on "Fees" at the top of Ryanair's main website page, before you get anywhere near making a booking. Alternatively, you can check the same details by looking at the Terms and Conditions. If you have now made a booking, you will have paid the fees.
From 2006 to 2010 I used Ryanair fairly regularly between Bristol and Dublin. It's a basic service and there's nothing intrinsically wrong with that, as long as you take care not to book things you don't want (where necessary, playing them at their own game when working through a booking), and you don't expect more than you pay for. Much the same applies to other airlines nowadays. I personally haven't ever considered priority boarding on either Ryanair or Easyjet to be worth the extra cost but I can understand why some people take it, particularly for longish flights.
