Just about to make a nice Moussaka from Vefa's Kitchen, a book I bought last year. What an amazing (and beautiful) book - every Greek dish you could possibly imagine - all your favs and tons more. If you love Greek food you need to have this. It's published by Phaidon Press

Just looked it up on Amazon Stuart, it looks fantastic. But at £20 I'm going to have to wait for Christmas or birthday. Unless I can justify it earlier. Any ideas why it would be imperative for me to buy it now?

It's not cheap Amanda - BUT it's an enormous case bound book and at 700 pages, it's pretty much an exhaustive guide to Greek food. The Moussaka will be ready in half an hour - it smells great.

My daughter got it for a tenner in one of the many cheap bookshops. Its a super book, search around the high street for it.

Daisy - well worth it. On Friday I'm going to be marinating the meat for a nice wee stifado that we'll have on Sunday - takes two days to do it properly. Looking forward to it.

Stuart, thanks, this all looks and smells perfectly splendid stuff. Pity the contest on Eggheads last night did not know what country stifado came from..........
In the meantime, a book I've had for many years (not as colourful by sounds of things) but has yielded very good results is 'Traditional Greek Cooking: Food and Wines of Greece' by George Moudiotis.

Thanks for the tip James. Hardback version of the book (second hand - perfect condition) arrived yesterday. Very nice book. Meze-a-go-go this summer I think.
