I cannot recall the thread title all this was posted under or how long ago but, Tor Airlines, yet another of Mr Paul Wyatt's (XL,Freedom etc.,) creations has gone down the same old tube today. One wonders when he will give up but I suspect he will be behind yet another new charter airline for the next season. More crew will end up on the scrapheap and probably more passengers stranded while he will publicly bleat and cry that it is all somebody's fault but NOT his.

Tor have claimed in a statement that this happened because the Iraqi CAA stopped with only 24 hours notice a wet-lease agreement involving flights between Sweden and Iraq. This must be one of the oddest claimed reasons for a charter airline ceasing to trade! (Incidentally, I think you meant to refer to "Phil" not Paul Wyatt?)

"It turns out he bought this Swedish company through his company Black Pearl based in Cyprus. His brother Jim Wyatt owns and operates Meridian out of the Beehive Gatwick. Bums on seats outfit. If anyone is offered a job with anything to do with Meridian, Sky Middle East, (another one of the Wyatt brothers companies) you would be advised to stay well clear!" The above one of many statements issued by crew yesterday/today. Last week he fired the Swedish crew and this week the Brits. Another quote:- "Mr Wyatt continues to plague aviation going back to the Goldcrest days in the early 90's with Ambassadair/Air Ops/Sabre etc... they build up and bankrupt each one as they go along." I know jobs are difficult to come by but I find it somewhat bizarre that crew follow him around knowing what a charlatan he is. I wonder what next!

Wasn't TOR Air (assume it's the same one) one of the airlines that Olympic Holidays used this year?

Yesterday they were still showing bookable flights, much to the annoyance of the dismissed flight deck crew. Some of them were sent on refresher and upgrade courses in November only to be shown the door in December. Seems like they kicked the staff out before dealing with their website and alerting agencies. However, strange things happen when Mr.W is about. Who knows what will happen in the new year. I know who I will never travel with as said before. Good luck.

Well at least they have been round since the year dot. I'd be happy on a Monarch. Nobody with the initials PW involved there. Happier still on an Easyjet which I have now booked ;D
