I have heard there are now a lot of day trippers invading Halki from Rhodes and basically filling the beaches. Is this the case and if so how much of a nuisance is it? What beach do they tend to go to and what days do they tend to visit?

Morning Simon, Depends really on what sort of holiday you are planning on having whilst on Halki, for us - we rarely visit the beaches but just tend to swim off our terrace and thus we hardly notice the day trippers, so cannot really say 'where they go', you could look at the day tripper's and either see them as a nuisance or a welcome really.............. From our visit a few weeks ago, most days (I think) saw a boatload coming over on the Nissos Halki. To get a sunbed and parasol, get there early and remember to take your towels...... Have fun.

Hallo Simon
The day trippers seem to favour Pondamas thankgod so only seemed to get a few over at Ftengnia when we were there early September.
Sunbeds a plenty at Ftengnia and fab food at Nick's Taverna as well.

I would imagine that there is only a big problem (if you can call it that) during the height of the season. We always go May & October and have never had trouble getting a sunbed at Ftenagia. We always make a joke as we walk down "Quick, we're a bit late, we may not get a bed", then have about 30 to choose from when we get there!
So if you're going late season I wouldn't imagine there'd be a problem at Ftenagia, but I can't speak for Pondamos which is probably where most of them go.

In late august/september apparently pondamos was horrendous once the daytrippers arrived, not an inch of sand to be seen was how it was described to me, goodness knows what it was like in mid summer. Ftenagia only seemed to get a few paricularly on sundays, so on our second sunday we all headed to Alimnia to escape !!

Hi Simon as the others have said Pondamos can get really busy - we were there in August so there were alot of trippers -I see your going in May so its more likely to be quieter then and I'd imagine with a 9 month baby the hike to Ftengnia may be a bit much. I think they are most days barr Mondays but they only stay from about 11.30 till 4 so by the time they have found the beach its almost time to go back and we were usually in the taverna during this time so it wasn't a problem to us . I would think as long as you are down on the beach for about 11 ish and bagged your speck you should be fine
